Happy New Year!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year, we’ve had a very busy start to the new year.

This term is going to be very busy. We have already begun preparations for our sharing assembly that will take place at the end of the month. For homework, everyone will be given the words home with them, please support us and help your child to learn the song words at home. Thank you, as always, for your help.

We look forward to continuing to share our learning with you throughout the term.

During our daily mile last Wednesday we saw a newt walking along the path, we wanted to share the photograph with you that we took of our new friend.

6.11.19

In maths we have been using arrays to help us solve multiplication sums.

In science, we have been learning about living, once living and never living things. Ask us if we can give you examples of each category and explain how we know.

Happy Halloween!

In Maths this week we have been learning about right angles. Ask us to show you some right angles we can see at home to test us! We have also been learning about compass points and directions. We drew compass roses in the playground and tried to make them accurate and point in the correct direction.

We have been writing scary stories in preparation for Halloween, we focused on using adjectives to provide good descriptions of characters and settings.

Do do you like our pumpkins? We made these in art and learned about blending colours of paint to create light and shade

A busy first week back!

Every day in maths we have been developing our speed and accuracy when solving addition and subraction sums mentally.

We have also started a new class novel – The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark and we are really enjoying it so far. Today we were using the story to develop our comprehension skills. Ask us about Plop!

In science, we have been learning about different types of energy. We have been sorting objects depending on what kind of energy they give us and how we use them.

In maths we have also been learning about data and the information it gives us. We have been applying our 5x table skills to count tally marks and we have conducted our own surveys and used our information to create tally charts and bar graphs. We are now working on how to interpret the information displayed in a table or graph.

Homework for week beginning 21.10.19

Dear Parent/ Carer

This term in Primary 3 we will be trying a different approach to homework, each week a grid like the one below will be posted on the class blog. If you have any questions or require a paper copy instead, please let Mrs Brown or Mrs Hallahan know.

Until we are fully up and running with the lending scheme for reading books, each child has been given the book home that they have been reading in class. Please see the reading diary for more information.

Sumdog logins have also been given to each child, please check red folders for these.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.
