Our School Trip

We went on our school trip to Callendar House in Falkirk on Thursday 13th June 2019. It was lots of fun and we learned lots about Roman Gladiators.

When we arrived at Callendar House we went looking for the ditch of the Antonine Wall and we found it! We learned that Falkirk was as far as the Roman army got when they tried to invade Falkirk.

We then had time left before lunch so we had time to play on some of the play equipment in the park. The Flying Fox and wooden climbing frames were really popular, especially when Jay’s mum and Mrs Brown decided to have a shot!

We thenĀ had great fun playing a game of Rounders on the grounds outside Callendar HouseĀ before going inside for lunch.

After lunch we went to the Roman exhibition and got to hear about how the remains of Roman Gladiators were found under 2 houses in York. They found 83 graves in total and we saw some of the skeletons in the exhibition. It was fascinating!

We then went to Gladiator School and got to make our own shields. We even gave ourselves a Roman Gladiator name to make us sound scarier.

We all had a fantastic day.
