Viking shields

As part of our Vikings topic, we had a great time creating our own Viking shields. We learnt that shields were made from wood, with parts attached using metal rivets and they were decorated by the warriors themselves. We noticed that traditionally only one or two colours were used and the shields featured bold patterns with simple, straight lines.

Here we are  hard at work.
