Alva Primary School VR Project; Can You Help?

Hello!

Currently, Alva Primary is in the preliminary stages of applying forour Digital School award. This award is a ratification of how weuse technology in our learning and teaching and the skills wedevelop in our young people.

As part of this, we are looking to expand our current array of ICTresources. As such, we are looking for your help;

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday just past, and with Christmason the horizon, we’re sure that there are many people in the Alvacommunity who have upgraded their smartphones to newermodels.

If you are one of these people, we’d like to ask you to donate yourold smartphone and charger to the school. Your old smartphoneswill be installed into harnesses we plan to purchase, that will turnthem into Virtual Reality headsets. These VR headsets will allow usto deliver interactive, inspirational learning experiences for ouryoung people that will develop their skills over a wide variety ofsubject areas.

Thanks in lieu of your support.

Streptococcal-Information-leafletAs we enter the winter months, there is usually an increase in the transmission of viruses and infections, particularly among the school population.

Please read the attached guidance from NHS Forth Valley Public Health Department regarding Streoptococcal infections; prevention, symptoms, when to seek treatment and exclusion periods to support minimization of transmission to others.

As ever, we thank you for your help and support.

P7 Community Cafe

This Thursday (6.9.18) will be the first of the monthly Community Cafe sessions run by P7. The Community Cafe project forms the backbone of enterprise education for our P7 cohort for this year, underpinned by development of skills for life, learning and work and sustainability.

P7T are running the cafe this month and will be offering home-made (from scratch!) apple crumble, made with apples from our very own orchard here at the school. Please find more details about this event in the attached PDF document.

This is a fantastic opportunity to see what pupils are doing in P7, as well as a chance for members of the community to come together.

The cafe is open to all and runsĀ from 1.30pm – 2.30pm.

We look forward to seeing you there!
