P7M – Mrs McLaren

Term 3 P.E. Changes

Pupils will now require P.E. kits on a Tuesday (2-3pm) and a Thursday (9- 9.45am). The timetable has been rearranged to cater for all pupils receiving two hours of P.E. per week.

Class Teacher Changes

Due to recent changes in staff, P7M will be taught by Mrs Millen on a Wednesday, to support Mrs McLaren’s Principal Teacher time.

Dalguise –

We are all excited for our weekend in Dalguise in March. Only a couple of months to go!

Learning Context –

This term our learning context will be World War 2. If any parents or grandparents have any information they’d like to share, please get in touch.

Numeracy –

This term we will be working with Miss Young from Lornshill Academy. In class we will be continuing to work on fractions, as well as measure with Mrs Millen.

Literacy –

We have been sharing our reading books this term in group reading sessions where we all take on a role. This helps us to get a full understanding of the books we are reading. We are continuing to undertake daily ERIC sessions and to share our personal reading books with eachother. We are working towards “Special ERIC time” with drinks and snacks – a reward for getting our books out quickly and maintaining a quiet reading environment.

ICT –

We now all have our own school email address, which we are learning to use in time for going to secondary school.

Don’t forget to follow #P7MStars on Twitter and to check out our class blog, updated by pupils.

Health and Wellbeing –

Our topic this term is Relationships. We have been discussing behaviours which make our friends like us, and those behaviours that turn others off.

Science –

We are learning about Forces with Mrs Millen.

P.E.

Your son/daughter will have P.E. on the following days:

Tuesday

Friday

Please could they bring in a full kit on these days. Alternatively, it can be kept in school in a drawstring bag, if preferred. The kit should consist of:

  • A t-shirt
  • Shorts, tracksuit bottoms or leggings
  • Gym shoes or trainers.
  • Appropriate socks, if required.

Note that jewellery should not be worn to P.E. and that football colours are also not permitted.

Homework

Your child will be provided with a homework grid at the beginning of term, to be handed in on a Friday for marking. I ask that you please support your child to complete their homework each week, and to encourage them to come to see me if they have any questions before it is due.

Learning

Please remember to keep an eye on Abercromby Primary’s Twitter feed (@abercrombyps), as photographs will be tweeted regularly. We will be using #P7MStars so that all of our photos will be kept together. If you would prefer that your child does not feature on Twitter and other social media (class blog etc.), please update the school office with this change.

Water Bottles

Please can I remind you that your child can bring in a bottle of unflavoured water to school each day, to drink in class.

Parents’ Information

You will be kept informed throughout this year with regular letters, newsletters, school events, the website and social media. However, if at any point during the school year, you have any questions or concerns, I would be happy to either speak to you on the phone or meet with you after school hours. You are welcome to call the school office to arrange this, whenever you need to.

Mrs Erin McLaren
