They have made little bunny rabbits out of plastic cups and paper.  Inside these bunny’s there will be a surprise and they will get to take them home on Thursday.  They were making lovely Easter egg paintings and made stunning flower pictures. They also have been making cute little chicks that are hanging up in the nursery.

Nursery pupils are also looking forward to a bike parade and at home they have made Easter hats at home for their bike parade. After their bike parade they will be having a tea party for the parents.

Nursery Investigate the World of Water

On Friday the 17th of January 2015, the nursery children went on a trip to the secondary pond. Their project is about water . They went to the secondary pond to get ideas for their own pond.

The nursery children are making their own pond in their playing yard. In their pond they have put sticks, water, fish and ducks. (Not real ducks.) They put heavy logs and stones around it to stop them from falling in.

They learned that they need water to drink, to wash hands and to bath.

Since September jogging club has been underway on Thursday lunchtime. Ms Gilmore takes part in the jogging club. She says “ Its a REALLY good club to do because it’s great get outside and look at the beautiful scenery”.

The places that they usually jog to is the Huntly castle and the ski centre. Mrs Gilmore thinks the childrens favourite place to jog up to is the Huntly castle.

It lasts for half an hour so it’s not too long. There are about 40 students in the jogging club.

Alasdair (a student who takes part in jogging club) says that it’s extremely fun and exciting.

Sometimes if there is very bad weather then they cancel it. The students all meet up at the primary 6 and 7 area for the register.

Nursery News!

The nursery have been learning about water.

They decided that they wanted to make a pond in their garden. To find out more about making a pond they went to The Gordon Schools and saw their pond and that gave them a big inspiration about what they wanted to do with their pond. They have been working as a team to make a little pond in the garden and have put a lot of things into the pond. They are learning how to keep the pond nice and tidy.

The nursery children have been learning about washing their hands. They have been making a lot of things and learning about what happens to objects when they go into the water. They  have also been learing about sinking and floating. They have been putting lots of different objects into the water and watching and talking about what happens to the objects. They have been reading a book called “I don’t want to have a bath,”  about  a young tiger who doesn’t want to have a bath. The nursery children enjoyed that book and they have made pictures and all sorts of stuff to do with the story. Now they are reading a new story called “The Whale and the Snail”  which is about about things under the sea.

Gardening clubs trip to Inverurie

On Thursday 20th November the gardening club went to Inverurie and got some new tools and we went on the train. We went to Homebase and the Garden Centre. We bought some watering cans, trowels, garden forks and some spades  and more. When we were in the garden centre  we all got to pick a pack of bulbs to plant in the Sensory garden and in the tubs and planters around the school. .The money for the tools and bulbs was raised last session by a coffee morning in the Stewarts Hall. The people that went to the trip would like to say a big thanks to Mr Scrimshaw,  Mrs Simpson and Mrs Sell. We can’t wait till next year so we can start planting again!

Gardening Club

The gardening club has been busy this term, getting the sensory garden and allotment ready for winter.

Pupils helped fill a new raised bed.  Others were busy tidying the shed and painting it.Some did some weeding and also took photos of weeds to make an identification chart so the budding gardeners can pull up weeds correctly.

The group also made a list of equipment needed for the allotment, such as trowels, more watering cans, large pots etc.

Gardening club is now finished for the winter, but the gardening club are going to go by train to Inverurie next week to buy the gardening equipment
