Loch Insh Watersports

A couple of weeks a go the majority of the P7s went of for a week up to Loch Insh near Aviemore.

They had all been looking forward to this trip for months and the expections were way past met.

To get in the ‘holiday mood’ they stopped off at the park in Aberlour to have a snack and a play. It was excellent fun and they were already enojoying their selfs before they even got there. They arrived at Loch Insh around lunchtime. They had their lunch and a stretch of their legs after the journey and then it was straight into it.

To make it easier the 2 classes were split into  4 groups called starfish, sharks, octopi and dolphins. They each did different activities. In one day the groups did 3 different activities in one day. So of course that meant a lot of food. Everybody thought the food was delicous and enjoyed it a lot.

Some of the activities were, problem solving, raft building, wind surfing, walking ,mountain biking, archery, boat tour, canoeing , kayaking, orienteering, paddle boarding and a disco on the Thursday evening which was great fun and many people went into the water that evening. As well as all that great fun was had in everybodys free time. Such as playing football, playing with bouncy balls, cards, music quizzes, games and going to the play parks.

To everybodys disapointment they had to go home on the Friday afternoon. Unsurprisingly after all that quite a lot of people were sleeping on the bus on the way home!!

Deveron Arts

This year the school will be helping decorating the Huntly Christmas tree. Deveron Arts are decorating the tree this year and have been going round schools and clubs so that they can join in too.

They  are making decorative fat balls for the birds, so that the wild birds can get a treat over winter.  All they are using is a balloon, string, lard and bird seed! Katrin (from Deveron arts) is coming round this week to work with the P5 class P6 class P3s and some of the P2’s. The tree will be decorated and the lights turned on on Sunday. All pupils from Gordon Primary and everyone from the local community are invited!

Remembrance Day

On the 11th of  November, the P7s and all of the P1s went to the war memorial  and Mrs McIntosh gave a speech about Huntly during WWI.  Mrs Gilchrist’s class made a poppy wreath and two of them laid it on the memorial. Mrs Player’s class also made a wreath with left over poppies and Emma  went and laid it. The photographer from “The Huntly Express” came and took pictures of all of the children. The P7s were partnered with a P1 and and walked very smartly down the avenue. Well Done!
