Longest Paper ChainWe made the world’s longest paper chain today. We worked together and made it as long as we could. We used trundle wheels to measure it and it was an amazing 33m!!
Have a look at our video! We lay next to it and managed to
have lots of people next to it… Can you count us all??

Hello everyone, today we had lots of fun.To start off the day one group went raft building. We tied lots of planks of wood together and put barrels underneath to keep us afloat. We were split up into teams and had a race on the loch.
Next we did some crate climbing where we stacked up crates as high as we could climb them. The highest score in group A was fourteen!
Before bedtime we had a campfire and reflected on all the things we had done in the past week (most people enjoyed getting covered in mud!We enjoyed last nights night walk where we were split into groups and had to walk on a trail without an adult! We heard some scary noises on our way but turns out it was just Mr.Craig!).We also toasted marshmallows and played around in the front yard.
We are missing you all and are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.xxx
Day 3 by Ariana Black, Leo and Dionne Sandison and Amy Armour
First off, we looked to see if there was anything in our traps. We found … A wood mouse and a field mouse. Unfortunately the wood mouse got away because there was a hole in the bag.
After that one group was sent to face their fears at one of the high rope obstacles called “the high V” where we climbed up a tree using ladders and there were two ropes, shaped like a v and we had to grasp our partners shoulders and walk along the ropes, with nothing to hold onto but our partners! After making it a few steps, most of us jumped off into the middle, hugging each other tightly, others just fell and bashed into each other, but we were well protected and nobody was hurt.
We went river dipping, we got really wet but found loads of animals. We found a stone fly coming out of its skin. Some of the group saw larvae and nymphs through really good microscopes.
Leo and Dionne say happy 8th birthday Chrissie, hope you had fun.
Days 1 and 2 by Lucy Connor and Andrew Arthur
After a good first night’s sleep we needed our big breakfast to give us energy for the walk up Kindrogan Hill. On the way we discovered a tree with needles that smelled of (lime flavour) starburst, an abandoned cemetery, frogs, toads and newts. We ate wood sorrel leaves which tasted like apple. We also found out about ‘drop spiders’, the size of a dinner plate, they also burn your skin if they bite. They only come down from trees if you are noisy.
We learned a story about Kindrogan house and the graveyard of Kindrogan’s early citizens.
Most of us got stuck in the boggy path at the top, some dived in head first!
We made shelters in a pine wood using all the natural resources we could find. Our shelters were tested by the teachers pouring water over them when all the members of the team were inside. Mostly everyone got drenched.
We have just set traps for mice and voles, the traps are full of food and bedding and are at an angle to let rain and urine out! We hope some of them will be full tomorrow.

On Monday we arrived in good time, had our sandwiches then found our rooms and made our beds. We had to be double quick to get out to the kit store for waterproofs and wellies.
We did team games and low ropes in the afternoon. After a big dinner we learnt more about John Muir and created our own mini national parks.
Since November 2013, pupils, staff and the community of Ellon Primary have been working on the values that are most important to them for our school. Today, the Kids’ Council decided on the appearance of the wordle that makes up the most important values for them. The council wanted to ensure that the colours of Ellon Primary were represented in the wordle and have therefore chosen a selection of blues.
This wordle will be created into a print and displayed in the school, alongside the values of all other members of the school community. We will let you know when you can come and see it.
Congratulations to all ten winners whose posters are shown above.
It was extremely difficult choosing only ten as the standard for all the entries was so high.
The winning posters will be professionally printed and hung in athletes’ and officials’ bedrooms in the athletes village in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games 2014
Our topic is Healthy Eating. We made a plate with loads of different types of food groups. There’s 5 different food groups. We made a poster for a competiton about Healthy Eating. We painted cakes at art. We made packed lunches . We showed the primary 1 to 3 a harvest assembly.
Hey guys! We have been doing some French, German and Spanish when you have been away. Today we have been baking and playing rounders all week. Some people went to the a drama thing yesterday in the academy.
Hope you guys are having a great time from immy!!!!!!!!
After our action packed day yesterday we woke a bit tired and grumpy. After breakfeast the red and blue teams went to Loch Morlich to do kayaking and canoeing. Our instructors were Mike and Ross, who were great and lead us through the whole experience so we did not drown. After lunchtime the orange and green teams went down to the Loch Morlich to experince the same amount of fun as everyone else has had.
While they where having the fun on the water the yellow and purple teams were back at the centre using wood, drills, saws and screws to build a Bee’s B&B. They then cycled out over fields and into the woods to find the best spot to put it so bees could start living in it. Some of the other activties that we took part in today were archery and wacky wildlife.
After all the activites we wrote in our diaries and had tea. After dinner we had our ‘Feet off the Floor time before heading down to sing around the camp fire and toast marshmallows. Yum Yum! We sung funny songs with Paul and sang happy birthday to Andrew W before having cup cakes for supper! We have had a fantastic time!
We have not managed to post our photos but we will upload them to flicker when we get back and create a like to them so that you can see just how much fun we have had this week.
We are expected to be back at school tomorrow between 2.45pm and 3.00pm.
As you will already know we set of at 8:45 am, and got there at 11:50am. The atmosphere on the bus as we were coming up the hill towards the house was incredible and we were all so excited! When we got off the bus we were all taken into the music room and Alan, one of the centre leaders introduced himself and everyone else in the team at Alltnacriche. Then we were taken into the main building and we were shown around the place. We were taken to our our rooms, which are lovely and we all had to make up our beds. We had our packed lunches and then met in the courtyard and went on a hike up a very high hill called Craigellachie. The view was gobsmacking as we sat stunned in silence. The walk was part of the John Muir Award which encourages people to discover, explore, conserve and talk about wild places. After that we came back we went on a scavenger hunt and lots of us got our trousers wet as we attempted to cross the burn! We came in and had tomato soup for starters, baked potatoes for a main course and ice cream and jelly for desert. It was lovely!
We have all been put into activity groups and tomorrow we will be doing various different things. They include wacky wildlife, survival skills, biking expedition and water sports. We are so looking forward to all that! We are finding it a wee bit tricky to add photos to our blog but we will keep trying and hope to have some to let you see tomorrow.
This term, primary 6/7’s topic is Conflict and Resolution.

Primary 4 is studying a new project this term called Ancient Egyptians. We have been looking at farming long ago and how important the Nile was to the Egyptians. Did you know that the Egyptians only had three seasons? There was one when the Nile flooded, one when they grew crops and one when they harvested.
