shape, topic, art, Romans, Celts, Alec caravan

The P2s were making symmetrical t-shirts and shorts with patterns on them for maths.  We looked at shapes for maths.  The P2s and P3s were making different patterns with shapes.

At story writing we were writing a postcard from a roman soldier.  We made Celt torcs.

We were learning about the body inside the ALEC caravan.  We touched parts on Tammy and when we touched them they lit up. We learned that our heart keeps us alive.  There was a fancy dress party for Harold.

At art, we were drawing a picture of roman soldiers.  We folded the paper and in each part we had to draw a part of the body.  Some of the parts had two parts of the body in them.

Christmas Extravaganza

Christmas Extravaganza at Ellon Primary

Stallkeepers wait for customers
Last Saturday Ellon Primary School held a hugely successful Christmas Extravaganza to raise money for school funds. There were cakes, sweets, jewellery, hair accessories, chocolate and many more stalls for people to visit and purchase their Christmas presents. The P1, P2 , P2/3 and P3 also had fantastic enterprise stalls selling cakes, Christmas pudding lolly pops, Christmas decorations, present tags and food for the birds. Children and teachers came along to sell what they made. Any profit that the classes made will be spent by the class and the teachers and children can decide what to buy.
There was a cafe where you could have soup, biscuits, mince pies, coffee or tea. Mums and dads liked that.
The arts and craft room was really popular and lots of children made Christmas decorations and other things. In the crafty room you could also play a game and buya raffle.
For lots of children the highlight was a visit to Santas Grotto.
The day was a fantastic success and we all enjoyed it.

Cinderella and Rockerfella

Everyone is really enjoying the rehearsals for the Cinderella  Rockerfella Pantomime and we can’t wait to perform infront of an audience. All we need to do is practice a little more to ensure we all know our lines and come in at the right time. The scenery crew are working hard on the backdrop and the props. We are all very excited about performing on the 19th of December to family and friends.

Here is a sneek preview of the ugly sisters practicing their routine.

The ugly sisters are having a great time!

Enterprise Part 2

We finished making the popcorn strings for the enterprise and put them in bags.  We made labels for them.  We were talking about how much they will cost.  The popcorn strings are 25p.  We made bird food too and we were making shapes with the bird food.  We have been making mars bar crispies to sell.  We put the spare bird food into bags to sell.  We are going to the Christmas fair on the 1st of December and that’s when we are going to sell the stuff that we made.  We are hoping to make money for the school.

Ellon Primary Stall Popular on Gala Day

Our Golden Jubilee stall proved to be very popular on the day of the Ellon Gala. Members of our Parent Council set up a display of photographs of staff and pupils through the decades.

The stall had many visitors who reminisced about old times at the school. The 1960’s style sweets went down a treat with the children and the water bottles and pens with our limited edition Golden Jubilee logo were selling

like hot cakes. These items will be available along with other limited edition products, tee shirts, polo shirts, mugs and pencil cases on our celebration day on Friday 15th June.

Alltnacriche News #3

This morning was spent on the water at Loch Morlich. Some children went kayaking and some were canoeing. They had a great time learning how to paddle and turn and were able to go a good distance across the loch. It was quite cold and although there were some brave souls, everyone’s feet were a bit cold. However, a quick run around, some hot chocolate and lunch revived even the teachers and we were able to enjoy a full afternoon of activities. Dinner was really good: carrot soup, chicken Korea or sweet and sour chicken and banoffee pie. Most of the children have packed their belongings and are now doing some work on their theme, ‘choices’. We’re looking forward to another good night’s sleep, some activities tomorrow and will leave here around 11:30am, hoping to be back in school around 2:45.

Alltnacriche News

After a wet but quick journey here, the children got stuck into their activities very quickly.  Bed making was fun but now everyone knows how to put a duvet cover on!  As part of the John Muir Award that the children hope to gain while they are here, there was a short presentation of the DVD that we prepared before leaving and then we did a hike up a steep hill where we had a magnificent view of the snowy Cairngorms.  Everyone did some orienteering before having dinner at 5:30. This was homemade tomato soup, baked potatoes with a variety of fillings and desert of Kelly and icecream.  We played Some ball games and a blind folded mini ropes course after dinner.  Supper came at 9:00 after work on the theme for the week: Choices.  Everyone is in bed now and hopefully will be asleep soon!
