Homework helps to strengthen the partnership between home and school. It provides opportunities for parental co-operation and support and gives parents/carers an indication of the work being covered in class and develop channels for home/school dialogue. Homework allows teachers to consolidate learning that has been taught in school and gives pupils the chance to show their understanding and share their achievements.
At Woodlands, homework is set weekly by class teachers and homework packs have been created to support parents at home. These packs contain activities designed to support reading, number work and spelling. Some of the activities may be referred to in the weekly homework and, if so, once completed, they may require recorded answers in the homework jotter.
The packs were created in response to our parents who were asking for further guidance on homework and have had positive responses from our parent forum. If you require a hard copy of these packs, please ask your child’s teacher.
