Once you have submitted your university application it is wise to investigate college courses on offer. This is particularly the case now when competition for university places is at its highest and many candidates, who have the minimum entry requirements, are being unsuccessful in securing a place.
College can provide another route to university, particularly for some of the more competitive areas such as Humanities (English, History etc), Medicine, Nursing, Business Studies and sports related courses.
Colleges offer a wide range of courses which can secure entry to university but typically HNC (Higher National Certificate) and HND (Higher National Diploma) courses offer the greatest chance and these can also, in some cases, allow a student to enter a course in 2nd year or 3rd year.

The form is completed through the college’s website and your UCAS personal statement can be used; just ensure it is adapted to reflect the course.
The college will then request a reference and respond appropriately, either with an unconditional, a conditional or a decline.
However, it is likely they will ask for further evidence of your ability i.e. interview, presentation, group interview or the submission of a piece of work.
