Building models and building friendships

The children have developed very close relationships with their new friends at nursery.  They often work together to make models in the construction area.  They are learning to become more cooperative with others and are developing their skills in persevering when a building task is tricky.

Bubble fun!

Mrs Gordon’s mummy brought some special bubbles back from her holidays for the nursery children. These bubble do not pop! The children had great fun experimenting with them this afternoon and watching them float through the sky.

Gruffalo Forest Adventures

The boys and girls had a great time on their Gruffalo forest adventure.  They hunted for Gruffalo footprints throughout the forest and read the story of the Gruffalo.   Then they made their own Gruffalo characters using playdough and natural materials in the forest.  They looked fantastic!  We have sent photographs of their creations to a Macmillan Gruffalo competition.

We also collected lots of sticks, stones, bark and leaves to make logpile, underground and treetop houses back at nursery in the role-play area.  The nursery staff have observed very imaginative Gruffalo play in this new area.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Parents: Please share these photos  and this letter with your children.  Seeing their much loved teddies in nursery play contexts will help them become more familiar with the different areas in nursery.  This will make the settling in process much easier for everyone.  Thank you.

Dear Boys and Girls,

Thank you to all of the boys and girls for coming along to the nursery teddy bears’ picnic today.  I really enjoyed meeting you all and can’t wait to get to know you better over the next few weeks.

The teddies have been very good.  After you left we all had a little snack together – they enjoyed eating the left over picnic food!  They washed their hands and sat very nicely at the snack table.  Then they all got to play.  They had fun building castles in the sand, drew pictures at the drawing table and played with the cars and trains.  One naughty teddy wanted to go for a swim and jumped into the water tray.  I managed to rescue her before she got wet!  Then I read them all a bed time story and tucked them up in the quiet corner for a sleep.  They all missed the boys and girls but I gave them huge cuddles to help them feel better.  I am sure they will be very excited to see you all when you pick them up tomorrow.

Teddy Fun!These teddies enjoyed playing together with the cars.  They made them zoom very fast!

Sleepy timeThese teddies snuggled up together for a sleep.  Daddy Elephant was very cuddly!

Good night!

These teddies kept kicking off the blankets!

I gave them all a big cuddle and a kiss before they went to sleep in the story corner.

Drawing at the drawing table
These teddies liked making pictures at the drawing table.  They were very good at sharing the pens.

Some of your teddies wanted to play with the trains.  They tried to make a train track with a big tunnel for the trains to go through.  It was tricky!

The teddies liked reading a story together in the story corner.  They especially liked the story about dinosaurs.  Maybe you can read it next time you are in nursery?

The sand was a bit messy but lots of fun!  I made sure they were clean before tucking them into bed for the night.

Naughty Ted!

This cheeky teddy bounced into the water tray when I was trying to put her to sleep!  Luckily she did not get wet and I tucked her back into bed.

The teddies are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.  They all send you HUGE kisses and cuddles!

Graduation

The boys and girls had a wonderful time performing to their parents at the annual nursery graduation.  They sang beautifully and had worked hard to learn a lot of actions and lyrics.  They all enjoyed sharing cake and juice with their families afterwards.

Thank you to all the parents for coming along and for being such an enthusiastic audience!
