Exploring ice and frost

We have been showing an interest in the changing weather outside particularly when it is icy and frosty.  We continue to enjoy playing in all weathers every day and have been eager to collect ice when playing.  We will be doing a mini topic on weather over the next few weeks.

  1. Liam was out sledging when it was icy and theee was snow. He likes the ice and has done ice experiments at home. We froze some small toys in apjasticcup and defrosted it with hot water and then let the other defrost on its own to compare the difference.

  2. Campbell has enjoyed all the ‘ice experiments’ taking place in nursery and has been fascinated to learn how and why water freezes and ice melts. So much so that after a recent grocery shop he reminded me it was important to get his favourite ice lollies in the freezer quickly!

  3. Stanley spotted gloves, frozen solid in the nursery garden today and ice on a plate which looked like ‘an ice pie’
