The  nursery children went to visit the forest this week. When they arrived in the forest, they discovered a letter from a fairy called Twinkletoe. She told the children that it had been very windy in the forest and that the fairy houses had been destroyed! She asked the children if they would be able to help to build new homes for the fairies. The children really wanted to help and so they collected lots of sticks, branches, stones, leaves and pieces of moss and they started to build. The children worked in pairs and in small groups to create their own fairy houses. They had some fantastic ideas and the houses looked amazing! The children used their imaginations and problem solving skills to help them to construct the houses. They also demonstrated excellent cooperation skills. They were able to listen to other children’s ideas and worked together as part of a team.
We would like to say a big thank you to all of the parent helpers who were able to join us in the forest this week. The children had a lovely time in the forest (despite the snow) and we look forward to our next forest sessions on the 16th and 17th of March.
Hi Harris loved the forest walk and when he got home could not wait to tell us all about the fairy house and what he had used to build it and told us that he had even put a carpet down in the house 😀 xx
Conor and Liam had a great time in the forest. They really enjoyed helping build the fairy house and collecting all the items to do this.
What a smashing idea, well done teachers.
It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to enjoy nature and the added magic of the forest fairies was such a bonus.
I was blessed to be part of it and think these outings are a terrific learning experience on so many levels.
