Pupil Council Evening Glenbranter Visit

Last night, 5th of September, as part of their Eco School biodiversity mini project, Dunoon Primary’s new 2012/2013 Pupil Council had the wonderful opportunity to participate in an evening Bat Watch.

Ten pupils from P3-P7 had great fun learning about lots of different species of bats from all over the world at the Forestry Commission Glenbranter, Out Station

Diamond jubilee event daffodil tea

Dunoon’s Senior Citizens were invited along to a beautiful decorated hall to be treated to afternoon tea and home made baking whilst listening to the selection of songs sung by Dunoon Primary School Choir. The Choir presented a medley of songs to celebrate 60 Glorious Years for the Queens Diamond Jubilee. In the evening the PTA laid on tea, coffee and home baking to a packed hall of parents who equally enjoyed the wonderful evening. Continue reading Diamond jubilee event daffodil tea

P7 pupils visit Dunoon Grammar

Over 140 pupils from the 11 Cowal Primary schools recently added the On the Move 2012 transition project at Dunoon Grammar School. This 5 day long visit involved pupils
* discovering who would be their new classmates and helping one another to discover the way round their new school (with the help of S6 peer mentors)
* following their S1year timetable and meeting their teachers
* completing a variety of lessons based around the transition to secondary school and in particular to Dunoon Grammar

Robert Mapplethorpe’s Exhibition

The children of Dunoon Primary Seven were treated to a glimpse into Robert Mapplethorpe’s Exhibition in the Burgh Hall.
The ARTISTS ROOMS collection includes flower studies and portraits of many of the most influential artists, writers and musicians of the period.
The children were invited to take their own photographs and sketches. The new I Pad 3 was a popular choice among the children as they enjoyed snapping shots

‘The Unsinkable Ship’ in Dunoon Primary

On Friday 8th June the children of P4 in Dunoon Primary gave a wonderful presentation on their Curriculum for Excellence topic ‘The Unsinkable Ship’ to a very enthusiastic and appreciative audience of family and friends. After the presentation the children who were dressed as passengers and crew from the Titanic joined their guests to take them on a guided tour of the Titanic Exhibition they had helped to create in their corridor and classroom.
