Talented Young Artists from Primary Seven at Hermitage Primary School gathered at the Victoria Halls on Tuesday 19th March to show off their art at an Exhibition for parents and invited guests. The pupils produced pieces of contemporary art around the theme of transition and the result was a very colourful and imaginative exhibition which included a piece of art from all seventy three children in Primary Seven. The exhibition was opened by successful sculptor and artist Jason Pyper Davis who was very impressed by the vast array of skills and ideas on display. Continue reading Hermitage Art Show success!

Hermitage Primary Netball
Hermitage Primary are very proud of the school netball team for winning the Lomond School Netball Tournament. The group phase saw some excellent play in all sectors of the court and the team progressed into the final undefeated. Hermitage faced Cardross in a nail biting final in which both teams played superb netball and were equally matched. However a tense 4 minutes of extra time allowed Hermitage to score a further 2 goals and finally win the trophy. Well done to the whole team!
Hermitage Primary School qualifies for Scottish National Finals
Hermitage Primary School has qualified for the Scottish National Finals at Toryglen Football Centre. The team under Mr. Henry, having previously progressed from the West Regional Qualifiers last November, made the journey to Toryglen on Wednesday. They made the journey to Glasgow knowing that they faced some stiff competition. They were to play against the best teams from the West of Scotland, hoping to grab their opportunity to compete against the best teams in Scotland.

Mud Exchanged for Medals at Hermitage Primary
Months of cross country training paid off for Primary 6 pupils from Hermitage Primary when they competed at the Garscube Harrier’s Schools’ Cross Country last Saturday. Not only did the girls and boys team win bronze but Keir and Rachel both won individual 3rd places over the gruelling and very muddy 2.1km course. Cameron and Chloe represented the school as individual runners in the Primary 5 and 7 races respectively. Cameron was delighted with his top 10 place and Chloe ran superbly to take 12 seconds off her time last year and finish 11th.
Hermitage Primary Visit The Houses of Parliament.
Pupils from Primary 6 and 7 were delighted to take up the invitation to spend a day in London and take part in a workshop at Parliament. The pupils who are all either members of school committees or house captains were up bright and early to catch their morning flight to Gatwick. On arriving in London the pupils had a tour of Westminster Abbey seeing the tomb of the unknown soldier, the coronation chair and Churchill’s memorial. Christmas Tree Festival
Hermitage Primary School Choir entertained at the Christmas Tree Festival in The United Reform Church in Helensburgh on Wednesday 12th December 2012. This is an annual community event organised to support various charities. This year, it was to support the African Children’s Choir and Combat Stress. The children told the story of Christmas in rhyme and song. The songs were a variety of styles and a good time was had by all, both pupils and audience alike. Continue reading Christmas Tree Festival
Hermitage Primary School Technology Challenge 2012
Excited pupils from Primary 7 at Hermitage Primary School took part in their annual Technology Challenge on Tuesday 27th November. The challenge, for the 11 teams of 6 or 7, is to plan, design and construct a working model which moves forwards, backwards and has working lights. Each team’s vehicle must have a strong purpose and corporate identity. The teams must also produce a booklet, a presentation and marketing material related to the purpose of their vehicle.
