On 11th Feb over 200 children from the Lorne area came together to compete in a range of Burns competitions that had been organised by the pupil councils of Rockfield, Lochnell and Kilninver Primary schools and over 400 entries were received.
The event was held in the Argyllshire Gathering halls and the adjudicators came from the local Burns club who had donated £500 towards the costs of the day.
Children participated in art, projectwork, singing, recitation and poetry writing in the Scots language and as you will see in other SAL posts many went away with medals and certificates celebrating their success. Congratulations to the winners and the overall winner on the day was Calum Garvin of Rockfield Primary for his outstanding project work.
The Hopscotch theatre group performed Tam O’Shanter in the afternoon and Rabbie Burns appeared via a time machine to answer questions about his life and times.
