The children of Carradale and Drumlemble Primary Schools were unrecognisable on Friday 29th April. There was a sea of white coats to be seen. The children had transformed into mad scientists for the day.
The children of Carradale Primary School, travelled to Drumlemble and joined in on a fantastic Science Day. There were two sessions which took place during the day – Fizz, Boom, Bang which was conducted by Generation Science and a carousel of science experiments which were planned by the teachers.
Fizz, Boom, Bang was a hands on workshop which gave the children the opportunity to delve further into the world of chemistry. The children were divided into teams, each with their own workstation. Each team was able to have hands on experience of conducting a range of experiments to create a cool, colourful, chemical reaction.
In the teacher led sessions, the children conducted a variety of different experiments including making a balloon rocket, transferring water from one container to another (without using their hands) as well as discovering about forces and the effect that different materials have.
In Carradale Nursery class they were visited by Generation Science who conducted a Marvellous Magnets Science session with them. The children learnt all about magnetic attraction, repulsion, fields and poles. The children of Drumlemble Nursery Class and Primary 1-3, had this same workshop on Thursday 28th of April. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed this and learnt so much in such a short period of time.
