Dunoon Primary School Choir performed their version of ‘Juke Box’ last night April 26th to a packed audience in our school hall. Mrs Hamlet our superb dedicated music teacher had prepared a fantastic, modern programme for our pupils to sing aided by Mrs M Peek and Mrs A Macdonald.
The choir sang their hearts out to tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000 eras! Songs like ‘Catch a Falling Star, I’m A Believer, Thank You for the Music and Bring Me Sunshine were popular with the community in the afternoon show.
MacAulay and Andrew performed a tremendous routine to Bring Me Sunshine, kitted out with top hats and canes to a very excited and appreciative audience. The P7 girls were dressed in very colourful and birling skirts and neck ties which added to the ambience of the afternoon/evening performances. They then danced to the tune of ‘Rock Around the Clock’ and ‘Lets Go to the Hop’. The soloists were nothing short of amazing! Rowan and Connor sang ‘Count on Me’ and had the audience bopping around and Piper left not a dry eye in the house with her rendition of ‘Somewhere Only We Know!’. Holly sang sweetly and passionately ‘My Heart Will Go On!’
The reactions from the children were that they loved it, it was so good and what a brilliant night! The parents spoke passionately about the whole performance, and it was evident at the end of the evening that the revival of the jukebox era had been a resounding success!
