Strachur Primary Burns Supper

Strachur Burns Supper 2016 7Strachur Primary celebrated Robert Burns’ birthday in style on Monday – with singing, dancing, poetry, music and (of course) haggis!

Primary 1-2 recited the poem ‘My Wee Rid Motor’ and P6-7 composed their own versions of ‘Address to a Haggis’. P3-4-5 performed a play based on ‘To A Mouse’ which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Sophie S played ‘Ye Banks and Braes’ on her fiddle and we had four pupils play ‘Scots Wha Hae’ on the chanter to bring in the haggis – Annie, Betty, Kirsty, Sophie S and Tommi.

Damien said the ‘Selkirk Grace’ and addressed our haggis, along with Isaac, Tommi and Kyle. P6-7 also demonstrated the country dancing they have been learning with Mrs Shipley. Annie and Betty were our comperes for the event and kept things running smoothly, with Niamh doing the vote of thanks. We were delighted to have Rev. McKenzie there as a guest too. We had irn-bru as a special treat! Most of the children tried the haggis, prepared by our terrific catering ladies -Anne and June.

We enjoyed singing Auld Lang Syne together to finish off our special celebrations. Well done Mr Ferguson who accompanied us on the keyboard!

  1. A great celebration of all things Scottish! Well done Strachur from P4 in St Joseph’s Primary in Helensburgh.

  2. Hi Strachur Primary. Remember me, I only left last year! It looks as if your having a good time. hope to see you all soon. I know you might not know me because you have a new head teacher but im sure most of the pupils know me.
