The Cottage Kindergarten wins three prizes in prestigious Art Competition!!

All of the pupils at The Cottage Kindergarten in Helensburgh entered a piece of artwork in the nursery category of the Tesco Bank/National Gallery of Scotland Art Competition during the summer term. The title of the entries for this age group was ‘Shoes.’

At the end of June, they were delighted to hear that they had three lucky winners amongst their entries, as well as seven children who won a Special Reserve certificate. This was a fantastic accolade as there were almost 70 000 entries from schools and nurseries from all over Scotland.

Sophia Williams won 2nd prize for her painting entitled ‘My Sparkly Shoes’, Oliver Walker was Highly Commended for his watercolour painting of ‘My New Trainers in their Shoebox’ and Ethan Holling won a prize from Scottish Ballet in a Special Category for his pen and ink drawing of ‘One Big Shoe with Laces’.

Sophia and Oliver were invited to a special presentation in The National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh where their framed pictures were displayed. The artwork will now be part of a touring exhibition in various galleries throughout Scotland. They had a wonderful day out and came back with lots of art materials for themselves and the kindergarten.
Ethan’s fantastic picture will be used in the programme for Scottish ballet’s production of ‘Wee Cinderella’ to be performed in Glasgow this Christmas. Ethan won tickets for his family for the production and will receive a special copy of the programme as a memento.,
