It was Open Day in P7 and we invited parents, grandparents and carers to come in and join us with the Spaghetti Marshmallow Challenge!
Each team was made up with P7 children, one or two parents or helpers, 100 sticks of raw spaghetti, 20 marshmallows and just 30 minutes. The challenge was to build the highest tower using just these materials, plus lots of communication skills, teamwork, determination, creativity, problem solving and speed!
The teams found a variety of ways to construct their tower, and quickly learned that weight should be at the bottom of the structure, sides should be even and that marshmallows which had been halved are very very sticky!
Some teams hopes were dashed as their towers collapsed seconds before the time was up, and some suffered even more disappointment as their towers slowly toppled while waiting to be measured!
The triumphant winning team were all presented with a delicious Creme Egg.

Many thanks to everyone who took part in the fun, and full credit to the P7’s who behaved with impeccable good sportsmanship throughout.
I love that challenge! What a great idea and it looks like it was lots of fun!
Wow what a fabulous idea, I haven’t seen that before! Well done everyone on what looks like a tricky challenge 🙂
I agree. Looks great!
