4 lucky children from Rosneath Primary were invited to Glasgow City Chambers last Thursday to a Game On Scotland Celebration Event. They had the opportunity to meet up with 80 other children from schools all over Scotland for a fun-filled day where they met Team Scotland/Team GB athletes from 4 different sports. All schools taking part had been awarded a Game On Scotland plaque and shared their challenges.
The athletes – Aileen Neilson (Wheelchair Curling), Fiona Robertson (Wrestling), Ailsa Wylie (Hockey) and Sammi Kinghorn (Wheelchair Racing) were more than happy to share experiences and answer questions.
Aileen had brought her Bronze Medal from the Paralympics in Sochi – huge and very heavy! Ailsa was the first to score for Scotland in the Summer’s Commonwealth Games. Fiona, whose home town is actually in Argyll & Bute, often competes against her twin sister Donna! Sammi’s was such an inspirational story – an accident at the age of 14 resulted in the loss of movement in her lower body.
Many children across Scotland took part in a Glow Meet on the day but to actually be there in person at the City Chambers was an experience second to none!
