Barcaldine Primary School recently had a visit from an ‘Eco Investigator from Zoolab’.
Anthony from Zoolab descended upon us with a huge big box in tow to discuss with us our environment and what creatures and animals require from their environment to survive. The children got to touch, feel and handle the various animals but there were a few we didn’t dare touch!! Some of the animals had to stay inside their boxes but we did get a chance to see them when they appeared from their hiding place!
Anthony brought along a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach, a millipede, a tarantula, a scorpion, a hermit crab, a toad, a beautiful orange/yellow corn snake and a rather sleepy, grumpy black corn snake who was too tired because he was shedding his skin!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the Zoolab workshop and learnt about our environment and its effect on the animals – big and large!
As it was such a beautiful day we decided to take a walk along our local beach to investigate how litter affected animals on our own doorstep. The children armed with boxes collected a large amount of waste that had been left or washed up on the beach.
