Colgrain Primary P5 Literacy Group planned an exciting day of celebrations for World Book Day. They worked alongside Mrs Neil ( a parent helper) and Mrs Candlish (P6/7 teacher.) Children were invited to dress up as their favourite book character. They were also asked to bring their favourite books to school as a stimulus for quality conversations. We held a whole school assembly, including the nursery, where we learned all about the history of World Book Day and how wide spread the celebrations are. We had a whole school quiz where we had to match teachers and their favourite books. The day was a great success and all pupils enjoyed dressing up. The pupils also bought books which raised around £250 for literacy resources.
Well Done to the Literacy Group. I know my little granddaughter Leah in Primary 1 enjoyed coming to buy books. We might “pinch” your idea here at Rosneath for a wee Enterprise project.
You’re very welcome to pinch our ideas Mrs Keech – We are happy to share. And Leah is a delight! 🙂
Thank you,
Miss Curson
