Vikingar Fun for P5

What a magnificent fun day out Dunoon Primary P5 class had at Vikingar on Friday 7th March. The pupils were treated to a visit to a real life Viking Home and as they entered ‘strange aromas’ were evident of the Viking age. The informative guide quickly began to introduce us to a world of information on our topic, with lots of clever pupils answering questions testing their knowledge of the Vikings.

They were allowed to use the old quern stone which made flour and to try out the heavy helmets and horns. Some super excited children were then led into meet the Gods and the guide explained about the sacrifice of Odin’s eye at Mímir’s Well to enable him to gain knowledge. They were then lead to a cinema to watch a 20min show about Viking times. The final part was a games room with lots of Viking jigsaws, puzzles and drawing games. The guide lead the pupils up to the classroom and created a mock Viking village using our pupils as the villagers. Each child was given an authentic looking Viking costume to wear. A superb time was had by all, thankyou Mrs Simeone, for a well organised fun filled and educational day out.
