Stramash was delighted to welcome Michael Russell MSP , to view the projects and work of the organisation. He began the day by visiting the children at the outdoor nursery site to explore the site and discover more about the learning taking place within the early years setting outdoors. The children were very inquisitive to meet their special visitor!
He later visited Stramash’s base, meeting key staff including the two new sports development coordinators, Russell Daniels (Paddlesports) and Andrew Hooton (Sailing). Both plan to carry out work with local schools and the local community over the coming two years. It also gave him the opportunity to meet the apprentices, the local young people employed and trained in Outdoor Education/Recreation and Childcare, Learning and Development.
We introduced him to our wider outdoor education work and he was impressed by its alignment with Curriculum for Excellence and the 50 different schools and 2000 young people we had worked with within the previous year.
Mr Russell finished by saying that “it’s a very good type of learning…it’s been done really well here and I enjoyed seeing it”
