Our class is doing a play on the 29th of March. I am the Giant’s voice, one of our songs is Will you still need me when I’m 64 sung by the Beatles.
The Selfish Giant
On the 29th March we are going to do a play called the Selfish Giant. I am the bird, Maisie old woman, Harry old man, Emily Flora, Oliver North Wind, Alica Hanna, Robbie Tom, David Bob, Danni Snow, Abbie frost, Jodie hail, Nick Jesus, Torin giant,Ello puppeteer and Izzy Poppy. I love being the bird.

Science Week
We have just done our science week competitions, there were a lot of problems along the away. There were 4 competitions and my group won nothing though but everyone had fun and none of the pupils were sad because we all had fun. 🙂

Newton’s Laws
From the 11th March-16th March it is science and engineering week. Primary 4-7 are all taking part in a whole week of science and all the activities we do is about forces. The first thing that we learned was Newton’s 3 laws and they are very important because they describe forces very well. The first law is “when forces acting on an object they are balanced,it will remain at rest or move in an straight line at constant speed”. The 2nd law is “force=mass x acceleration”. The 3rd law is “every action has an equal and opposite reaction” and that is Newtons 3 laws.
Science week
At Port Ellen primary we were doing science almost all week we had to learn about forces for example there was friction, if you went on something bumpy friction would slow you down, and mass if something is heavy it will have mass and it will slow it down.
Science and Engineering Week
On the 12th of March we started to do some science for the whole week and today we are making a car and it is really, really tricky. But we manged and it is really fun. Angus was at the dentist so he didn’t really get to do much but he did the wheels and they fitted perfectly. After lunch Abbie and I are going to decorate the whole car.

Science in p4/5 and p6/7
This week is
science and engineering week. Our aim is to be able to successfully make a car by the end of the week. We are also trying to know Newton’s three laws off by heart, the first one is when forces acting on an object are balanced,it will remain at rest or move in a straight line at constant speed, the second rule is force=mass x acceleration and finally the third rule is every action has an equal and opposite reaction. On Monday we had science activities in groups to complete my group is Daniel Ewan Izzy and I . My favourite activity was buoyancy!:)

Yesterday we were doing art on the selfish giant and we did trees,children,birds,flowers and a castle I did flowers with macaroni.
World Book Day
Today was world book day! Some of us dressed up as our favourite character from our favourite book. I dressed up as Matilda. Roald Dahl wrote my favourite book. In the morning we made book marks to enter a competition! Before lunch we went through to Miss Browns class and watched something with lots of authors in it. The p5s were at swimming but they came back after lunch. In the afternoon we wrote stories in groups for the nursery ours was called Aliens love ice cream I hope when the nursery read it they will like it! What a fun day.

SHINTY TOURNAMNET
On Sunday 25th February, Port Ellen went to Islay High School,to play a Shinty Tournament, against Bowmore and Port Charlotte. There was a P4/5 league and a P6/7 league, each playing in a different part of the school. Our team were in the P4/5 one, and matches were 6 minutes long.
We had a great time,in my team there was Maisie in goal, Jodie and Abbie in Defence, but Abbie sometimes went up, and scored some fabulous goals. I(Harry)was in midfield and Alicia was up-front.

The top 2 were Bowmore & Super Sweepers,so we were in the FINAL!!
The Final was really hard, we were doing really badly at half time,as it was 3-1 to Bowmore. But Alicia added another goal in the second half,where we played a lot bettter,but in the ending seconds, Bowmore scored. Well done Bowmore!
It was Bowmore4-2OPort Ellen, we had come second,but overall we had a wonderful time. Meanwhile in the other hall, Port Ellen were doing rather well, although P4/5’s were only back for one game and the final, we thought it must have been very interesting.
When Miss Ramsey read out the scores I was amazed Port Ellen’s team Spiderpigs were third, The Jimmy Brigade, also from Port Ellen were second and the team in first were The Bullseye Boys from Port Ellen!
We had a great time overall,and many thanks to Miss Ramsey for organizing the tournament.
