We have started our Mock Court topic and we have all been allocated out specific roles. Our lawyers on the pursuing side have completed an initial writ. This week, our defence team were completing a response to these initial writs. Two lawyers came in to help us.

We learned how to make pancakes. We followed instructions, made our pancakes and got to eat them. They were tasty.

In numeracy we have been learning long division. We have also been working on fractions and percentages and were working amounts of appreciation and depreciation of certain items.

In PE we have been working on our hockey skills, such as dribbling and passing and we have been playing team games. We were learning how to play dodge ball with Mrs Howard. It was good fun.

We made some chocolate muffins during our Skills Academy lesson with Miss Melrose. They were delicious.

We enjoyed taking part in a STEM lesson with Mrs Smillie for another Skills Academy session, where we were making parachutes for mini figurines. We used a variety of skills to complete this task such as – teamwork, communication, resilience and cooperation. To be successful our parachutes had to match our designs and have a soft and slow landing.

P6C Blog It 6.3.20

In P6c we have been learning about fair trade and the process of how the cocoa bean turns into the chocolate we see in the shops.

In numeracy we have been learning about fractions, decimals and  percentages.We have also been learning how to multiply and divide decimals.

This week in PE we have been doing fun challenges to earn points in our teams that we are in. For example one of our challenges was orienteering with our groups, we had to find lots of clues hidden around the school playgrounds.

In our new topic we have been getting ready for our space assembly on Friday the 20th of March.

In literacy we have . . . .

been learning how to write Tankas. A tanka poem is very similar to a Haiku but Tanka poems have more syllables and are usually written about nature, seasons, love, sadness and other strong emotions.  This form of poetry dates back almost 1200 years ago.

been learning how to work with fractions.  We have been looking at equivalent fractions and converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions.  Here are some of the examples we have been working on in our jotters.

been continuing  to work with time.  Some children have been working with complex time tables; calculating duration’s of journeys or  t.v programmes.  Other children have been converting between 12/24 hour and AM/PM times.
