Elf Nonsense!

Our naughty little Elves have been up to no good again this weekend. They have been visiting the lunch hall to look for tasty treats and have managed to sneak into Mr Taylors office. They also went to the library to read stories together. We will miss our elves when they return to Santa.

The Angels Cried – Alicia MacKay and Amy Anderson

This is a recording of Alicia singing her own cover of ‘The Angels Cried’ by Alan Jackson and Alison Krauss. Alicia had never actually heard the original of this song until after she had sang her own version. The guitar is played by Amy Anderson who has only been playing the guitar for about a year. It was one of many fantastic performances at our Christmas Concert. Enjoy.

Primary 6 Winter Art

We explored paint techniques this week and created a winter art piece. We imagined we were lying on the ground, below the trees looking up to the bright full moon! The process was great fun and we learned more about perspective and different ways to use a paintbrush, from the bold expressive blue and purple skies to the delicate silhouette branches of the trees.

Primary 7 and Primary 1 get creative

Primary 7 were set a challenge to prepare an art activity to make with their Primary 1 buddies. They had to create it themselves and gather all the resources with a little help from their teachers. Today Primary 7 worked with their Primary 1 buddies and created their Christmas masterpieces. Everybody had lots of fun and it was great for the buddies to spend time together.

P6 and 7 Carol Concert

On Thursday the 18th of December a school carol concert took place at Williamston Primary School. Lots of music was played by our wind band. They played six songs in total and there were a few solos and duets. The choir sang beautifully just like angels! There were two trios and a duet from P7 and a song by the P6 girls. The boys from both year groups sang Walking in the Air and it was fantastic!!! The P7 woodwind girls played two wonderful songs together and one song in their instrumental groups. A HUGE thanks to Mrs Poynter, Mrs Kelly and Mrs Annan for taking time to teach all these festive songs.

Christmas Surveys in P4

In P4, we have been carrying out surveys about Christmas. After learning to collect, organise and display information in a variety of ways, as well as answer questions about the information, we researched a Christmas topic of our choice. We collected information using tally marks and displayed it in bar graphs. Here are some of the results from the surveys:

Most popular Christmas food – roast turkey

Most popular Christmas sweet – candy cane

Most popular Christmas song – Last Christmas

Most popular present – teddy

Most popular Christmas character – Santa
