JYHS – ‘German Adventure’

Both the P7 classes really enjoyed themselves this morning at JYHS. They engaged in a modern languages event called ‘The German Adventure’. There, they were able to work with S1 pupils and P7 pupils from another school.

On Monday Our House Captains were announced:

Houston: Shefali Mathur and Gregor Hollis

Alderstone: Harry Coupar and Alex Coyle

Howden: Finlay MacDonald and Jules Goodwin

Limefield: Scott Cooke and Natalie MacGillvray

Well done to all the candidates and their campaign groups for all their hard work!

On Thursday some of the P7 pupils attended an event at Craigswood Sports Centre. We had a great afternoon taking part in a variety of athletics activities. We took part in activities such as long jump, sprinting and relay race. We are awaiting the results to see how we got on! We tried our very best and demonstrated great sportsmanship!

Some P7 pupils stayed at school with Ms MacDonald and created presentations about the daily life of an MSP. We used devices to carry out research and work collaboratively to put together a presentation to share our findings.

We enjoyed parents visiting our class on Tuesday to share our learning and join us for our morning starter activity.

Comments from pupils:

“I really enjoyed going to the Athletics festival because it was great fun but also tiring!” Alexander

A short but sweet week in P7b! 23.09.16

House Captain candidates continued working hard this week on their campaigns. Each candidate presented in front of their house today and all pupils from Primary 1 to 7 got to vote for who they wanted to be the House Captains. Well done to all candidates and their campaign groups for all their hard work and we cannot wait to find out the results!

We enjoyed problem solving this week and used logic to help us. We had to select key information from clues to seat passengers on an aeroplane and ensure all passengers were happy.

PE was tiring and terrific. Mr Muldoon challenged us with circuits including skipping and running and we really had to push ourselves out of our comfort zones.

We explored the Global Goals and focused on Goal 5 – Gender equality. We discussed what that means to us and explored the story of Malala. We have some exciting homework to complete to help contribute to a huge survey.

P7b blog post – 16.9.16

Welcome to our P7b Blog. At Williamston Primary School, Primary 7 is an exciting and busy year filled with a variety of opportunities. We have a strong pupil leadership team and P7 are lucky enough to take this forward throughout the school. We enjoy all of our roles and responsibilities and are aware that these help us to develop skills that we will not only use in preparation for high school but are also lifelong learning skills. We are trying to take on more responsibility for our own learning and use our diaries to help us with being more organised.

We absolutely love being buddies to the P1 children and look forward to lots of activities and events with them throughout the year.

We are already excited about PGL camp, our trip to The Risk Factory and P7 show!

In P7 we embrace new challenges, work together and thrive to be the best that we can be!

An AWESOME week in P7b!

Miss Noble presented the Prefects with their badges and discussed how impressed she is with all the Prefects so far. All Buddies also received their badges. We are very proud to wear these and represent our school!

Our Pupil Leadership Team was also announced this week.
Head Boy: Shay Hamilton
Deputy Head Boy: Ross Fairley

Head Girl: Grace Guest
Deputy Head Girl: Isabel Drago Ferrante

The team met with the Parent Council on Monday evening and they also had the opportunity to give their first tour of the school to visitors in the school on Thursday. Congratulations!

We have been very busy this week running our House Captain Campaigns. This has involved making posters and rosettes, creating slogans and logos as well as working together in small teams. The candidates are very excited about presenting to the houses next Friday!

We worked in our Literacy Circle groups to discuss our new novels and our Literacy Circle homework is due next Wednesday.

We are very proud of Kayleigh Patterson who was a national finalist for her Inspire Aspire entry. Well done!

We hope you all have a lovely long weekend.
