Baby Cara visits Primary 4a

100_7027We had a visit from Baby Cara yesterday! Primary 4 have been learning about baby naming ceremonies in different religions as part of an RME topic and how to look after a baby as part of a Health and Wellbeing topic, so Baby Cara came in to class to help us with our learning. She came with her mum (Julie) and we asked lots of questions to find out more. We looked at photographs of her in the hospital and as she grew up, and we also looked at her baby clothes, toys and accessories. We had a great time and so did Baby Cara!

P4 Author Workshop (3)

We have had our fourth workshop with author Mary Turner-Thomson. Mary had put all our ideas together to create two characters called Bob and Cerrin and so we then started to think about the storyline for the book. We worked in groups to think of ideas for the story and what might happen at the beginning, middle and end. We tried to include a Scottish theme to the story. Over the next few weeks we will continue to edit the story and then we will illustrate it. There is a lot of hard work ahead now but we think it will be worth it! And we are looking forward to working with our partners in Mumbai and finding out their characters and ideas.

P4 Author Visit (2)

100_7005 100_7006P4 have had their second workshop with the author Mary Turner-Thomson. The focus was on developing two characters for the story – a Scottish boy and girl. First we considered different personality types and worked out our own – that was interesting! Then we worked in groups to plan different features and personality traits of a character for the story. Mary will now help us to put these together into two main characters. We will be working on the storyline next – how exciting! Here are some of our character ideas….

P4 Chinese Workshops

Primary 4a and 4b were delighted to welcome Annie from China to their classes. Annie will be giving us two presentations about her home country of China. The first covered locating China and its major cities on a world map, the Chinese flag and some historical aspects including buildings and clothing. We also learned how to say hello and some simple phrases in Chinese, with the help of Annie’s panda friend. We are looking forward to the second workshop!
