VE Day – 8 May 2020

Today is the 75th anniversary of victory in Europe during WW2.   VE day was commemorated in various ways, including street parties and the production of special cups.

Task 1- To decorate some bunting, it could be for VE Day, celebrating NHS and key workers whatever you would like. You could hang it up outside your house.

Task 2-  , design a VE day cup

You can either print out this template, or draw your own cup or bunting!

While the Coronavirus outbreak has drastically altered plans for the day there are still ways you can safely mark the event from your home.  There will be a two-minute silence at 11am. All staff and families are invited to observe this.  Visit the VE Day website for some suggestions:

If anyone is celebrating in any way, we’d love to know about it! Remember to share your pictures.

Have a lovely weekend

Miss Swift

Great Science Share Week 1

Great Science Share Week 1

International Dawn Chorus Day is held annually on the first Sunday in May, when people are encouraged to get up early to listen to bird song. Be inspired to take time to listen to wildlife sounds around you throughout the week.

Things to think about:

  • What time of day do we see most birds?
  • What types of birds can I see near me?
  • Is there a pattern in the sounds I hear and the time of day?

Things to try:

Here are some bird spotter guides to help you identify the birds you see.
