Ness Class Update…

Lot’s of tired eyes as we bring the first part of our 1st Term to a close. What amazing learning we have had since August and we finished off with a flourish by thinking about Halloween.

Our pupils have the following highlights of our T1 Learning:

  • Using the Mathematic symbols  <>  to help us compare numbers which are bigger and smaller.
  • Using our Core Targets in writing to help in our daily writing activities.
  • Learning about Amazing Adjectives to help us describe characters and settings.
  • Building circuits when learning about Night Time and torches
  • Working in the Garden and Woods with Miss Lindsay during Outdoor Learning.
  • Doing lots of amazing Art with Mrs Hill and Miss Mains.

We hope you all have a lovely October break, and look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and happy.

Rannoch News…

This week we had lots  of fun in P.E.

We also practiced our letter formation and recognition of which letters match with which images.  We also enjoyed looking at books from our library corner.

We enjoyed time in the sensory room and listened to songs to help us with our recognition of 2-D shapes during our ‘ beyond number’ learning time.

We also cooked….yummy cupcakes to enjoy as the October break started!

We also enjoyed cooking cupcakes!

Tay Class News (St. Mary’s Primary ERB)

Tay class did some process art inspired by photos, songs and videos of Autumn.  We explored the colours: mixing different colours both on the palette and on the paper.

We continued our ‘All about Me’  topic.  We watched and listened to songs about bones and created skeleton pictures with different types of pasta.  ‘Dem bones, dem bones dem dry bones…’.
We listened to the colour monster story and sorted some different pictures into groups: sad, happy or angry.

P4 casting their votes – House elections

House Captains | Valley Primary School – Kirkcaldy, Fife

St Andrew

St John Ogilvie

St Margaret

St Ninian

This morning, we all went to the Primary 7 classroom to cast our votes for the House Captain elections.  Over the past few weeks the candidates in Primary 7 have taken part in Hustings, where they have shared information to the whole school about why they would make a great House Captain!  We enjoyed casting our votes and popping our vote into the box.  We look forward to hearing who our new House Captains will be – good luck to all!

Primary 1

This week in Primary 1 we started our topic, Families. We thought about our own families and drew pictures to represent them. Lots of discussions we had about different types of families.

After  learning about the season of Autumn we read the story Pumpkin Soup and have been getting creative with materials to make pretend soup in class.
On Friday we got to vote for House Captains, we had to go up to the Primary 7 classroom to vote. We were all very sensible.

As we were upstairs in the school we took the opportunity to visit some of the other spaces and classrooms in the school, it was lots of fun.

Have a lovely weekend everyone 🥰

Last week of cooking 🧑‍🍳 club

What a very messy afternoon we had at cooking club today!

We melted chocolate and made chocolate covered apples and bananas and decorated them with sprinkles 🍫 🍎 🍌 it was lots of fun and very messy! Once we decorated our apples and bananas we then got to dip marshmallows into the melted chocolate 🍫 it was very yummy and sticky.

Some of us ate all our goodies but some of us have them in the fridge to take home tomorrow.

We are looking forward to the next block of cooking club already 😀

P6’s busy week

Last week P6 enjoyed the European day of languages and particularly enjoyed tasting baguettes, cheese and sausages!
On Friday we had a super fun Sharing our Learning! First we showed parents what we do in reading, then we went outside to share some games we learned at camp! Parents weren’t at all competitive – NOT! Well done everyone!
