Primary 1 First week of Advent

We have a great first week of advent.
We had a special visitor arrive on Monday, a class elf called Sparkles. Sparkles has added a extra bit of fun to our week. He delivered us a real Christmas πŸŽ„ tree which we are going to look after and plant in the garden in spring time. We decorated the tree together. He has also delivered us lots of Christmas πŸŽ…πŸ» books to read before Christmas holidays as well as some chocolate puddings.

We have been learning all about the nativity story and what we do in the build up to Christmas. Β In class we made advent wreaths and spoke about the significance of the candles.

On Friday we joined the whole school to celebrate an advent mass. We were all very respectful and tried our very best at singing.

The whole school joined in on the Daily mile today, this was the first time we have done it but we are looking forward to doing it regularly πŸƒ

Have a lovely weekend.

Christmas Comes to Rannoch!

This week we have enjoyed decorating the classroom…we have our own tree and lights and tinsel!! We have even painted pictures on the windows!

We have also enjoyed making Christmas cards with our pictures on to give to our families.

We have also taken part in the Santa run…wearing coats and wellies to keep warm and dry…with Santa hats on to keep our heads warm too!

In class we have finished our studies of 3-D shapes and are moving on to displaying data next week.

We have continued our phonics studies too…looking at the initial sound ‘d’.

It’s been a super week!

Rannoch News

We have had a lovely week in Rannoch class…we enjoyed ‘super crunchy’ time on the Trim Trail with the frost early in the week. We found it surprisingly warm in the early winter sun.

We have also progressed in our learning of the initial sound ‘s’.

In our Beyond Number studies we looked to 3D shapes in the world around us…next week we are moving onto learning about displaying data through tally charts and block diagrams.

We also had a lovely time in the sensory room and enjoyed listening to relaxing music in class.

We are also really proud of our gifts for sale at the Christmas Fayre,,,we made glitter painted glass tea lights holders with Christmas ribbons…we think they look lovely!

Responsive Planning leads to Tasty Creations in Ness

Its amazing how Ness Class can lead their own learning! Stumbling upon an article during our Afternoon Group, the pupils were keen to learn about Fondue- what is it and where did it originate. We used our Floorbook to plan and organise our very own Fondue tasting session.

As you can see from the pictures, we found it…

‘interesting’ -Lochlan

‘super crunchy tasty’- Dominic

‘lots of tasty bites’- Laura

‘I put sprinkles on my fondue’- Hunter

‘I like the orange’- Shay

‘Thumbs Up’ – Nathan.

We were lucky to have our P7 Prefects in to help us with our tasting session- we found they enjoyed the event too!

Primary 1

Another busy week in Primary 1.

It is Catholic Education week and we have been learning about this years theme :

β€œPilgrims of Hope”

We started our class talks this week in class and we all did very well.

We had another great session with our Primary 7 buddies, using the potato characters we made last week as inspiration we created comic strips together.

On Friday those of us who brought in our bank letter got to put our money into our account and collect our piggy 🐷 bank. Remember the school are paying £1 for every child so send your form back.

We have all worked very had on our Christmas πŸŽ„ enterprise and are looking forward to seeing everyone at the school fair tomorrow.

Cooking πŸ§‘β€πŸ³ club Primary 5-7 and Primary 1

First week back at cooking club and it was savoury week. Both Primary 5-7 and Primary 1 groups made chicken πŸ” noodle 🍜 soup.

We worked with partners to chop vegetables and put it all together to make soup. Using lots of different skills then cleaning up after we finished cooking.

Lots of us tasted things for the first time, we are super proud of each other.
