Primary 1

Welcome back after our Easter Holidays. We all enjoyed sharing with the class what we got up to during the holidays.

We had a super outdoor learning session this week in the school garden πŸͺ΄ We participated in a sensory treasure hunt, exploring the smells and feels in the garden.

In RE we picked the story of Jonah and the Whale 🐳. We all have a good understanding of the rules we have to follow and that grownups have to follow rules as well. We talked about how we all can make mistakes but it’s good to say sorry and God always forgives us. We made Jonah and the Whale 🐳 models to remind us of this.

In numeracy and maths we have moved on to learning fractions, our focus will be making 1/2 of different shapes and to challenge

different amounts. Two parts make one whole.

Primary 1 have had a fantastic first week back and are looking forward to our last term in Primary 1.

Primary 1

Last week before the Easter holidays and we made the most of it in Primary 1.

We had a great day for our very first school trip. We have been learning about Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and in particular castles 🏰 and we were very excited to get the chance to visit the capital and get inside a real castle.
Just going on the bus 🚌 without our grown ups from home was a real adventure. Some of us were very nervous but we were very brave. Everyone should be proud of themselves.

We all had lots of fun exploring the castle and looking out at the views from it.

On Friday we made Easter 🐣 nest cakes. We had lots of fun using our collaboration skills to work together.

Happy Holidays

We were glad that our outdoor learning got changed to the start of the week this week as we had some lovely sunshine to work outside. We were helping in the trim trail to make a sensory garden. We put our handprints on the crate to decorate it. We then had some time with our buddies in the trim trail to work on our balance, co ordination and team work skills.

We have been learning about the new season of spring and thinking about what happens in spring time. We have created descriptions of chicks 🐣 in our writing jotters.

In numeracy and maths we have been making equal groups, sharing items between friends and making sure everyone has the same amount to keep it fair.

On Monday we learned all about St Patrick, we used this learning of the trinity to make beautiful shamrock ☘️ sun catchers.

We also had a lovely buddy hour where we read to our buddies and they read to us.

Cake 🍰 and 🍭 candy sale was lots of fun, we got to take our money up and buy cakes. This was a great opportunity to use money in a real life setting.

On Thursday we had our outdoor learning in the school garden. We have been growing pumpkin πŸŽƒ plants 🌱 in our classroom but they were getting too big for their pots. We wanted to plant them in the ground but because it has been frosty πŸ₯Ά in the morning we decided to put them in bigger pots and bring them back into the classroom. Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  We did get to dig a big hole and plant our Christmas tree 🌲 that our elf brought us during lent.

On Friday we enjoyed a lovely assembly led by Primary 4 Β all about Easter.

Have a lovely weekend.

On Friday we took part in our Lent Bingo we had to concentrate hard on the numbers that were called so we could mark the numbers correctly, our P7 buddies helped us.

Have a lovely weekend.

What a great week in Primary 1!

We have been learning to measure, we have used block, paperclips, hands and feet and finally a ruler. We discussed how it looked like a number line and how it can help us measure. We were all very good at using it!
We had lots of activities around ordering things in size, talkers to shortest, longest to shortest etc. Finally we all got in size order ourselves.

In our topic work we have been looking at Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and the focus this week was where we live, or where the school is, Polbeth. We had lots of fun walking round the village ticking off places of interest. We we excited about buying something in the shop and getting to taste a Subway. We finished off our walk with a trip to the park.

This week in Primary 1 we had a theme of love ❀️ and kindness. We learned all about St Valentine and how we can show love and kindness to others. We made tie die love hearts to display in class to remind us how to show love and kindness.

In outdoor learning this week, due to the very wet weather, we spentΒ it in the outdoor classroom. We were tasked by building a structure, some of us built bridges and some built towers or castles and house.

We read a lovely story about mermaids and created a land for her to live in, we all enjoy playing in the sand.

Have a lovely weekend.

On Monday Primary 1 performed our Scottish song and poem that we have been practicing in front of the whole school as part of the school Scottish Poetry competition. We did very well and everyone should be proud of themselves.

We then enjoyed a lovely buddy time with our Primary 7 buddies where we read to our buddies and they also read to us.

At outdoor learning we planted pumpkin πŸŽƒ seeds. We collected the seeds from inside the pumpkin πŸŽƒ at Halloween, but they had to stay in a dark place for a long time before we could plant them. We are hoping they grow into big pumpkins.

On Friday we joined the whole school mass, we did very well. In RE this week we talk about being part of Gods family, our school family as well as our family at home.

We hope you all have a lovely holiday.
