It was savoury week in cooking π§βπ³ club this week and we made sausage rolls.
We had to be very careful using meat, we all did very well following the instructions .
Some of us decided that we usually donβt eat sausage rolls but we will try them because we made them π
Another busy learning week in Primary 1. We have been learning all about living things with a focus on plants πͺ΄We discussed what plants Β need to grow and the different parts of plants. It was agreed that we would like to grow our own plants so in class we have planted sunflower π» seeds and are looking to looking after them and watching them grow.
On Thursday we took part in world π book π day. We took part in a book scavenger hunt, listened to authors reading their books and made book marks. It was lots of fun.
On Friday some of our grown ups came into school to join us for our school Big Breakfast and then in our classroom to share our learning. We love sharing our learning. We hope the grown upβs enjoyed visiting our classroom.

It was sweet week and we made chocolate truffles. We had to get our hands messy this week to roll the ingredients into balls. It was hard not to eat some as we were cooking π§βπ³ as it was very tasty π
Lots of skills were used making our truffles, smashing, scooping, mixing, rolling and sharing.
We had a great start to cooking club, this week was savoury week and we made pizza rolls .
Everyone followed the instructions well to make a delicious treat. We had to spread, fold, sprinkle, and baste our rolls before putting them in the oven to cook.
We all worked very Β well collaboratively.
Grace – I shared my pizza at home.
Ellis – my big brother ate it!
Jack – it was yummy.
Mya – I ate it all, it was tasty.
Theodor – I loved mine.
Millie – I enjoyed making them and eating it!
We are all looking forward to next week.
Primary 1 had a fantastic trip to Edinburgh Castle this week. Β This was a big adventure for us and a lot of walking but we all did very well and made the school proud.
We used our trip to inspire our writing.
On Wednesday we participated in our school committee groups where we get the chance to work collaboratively with children across the school. We all really enjoy working with others and making decisions to shape areas in the school.
On Friday we participated in No Electricity in school hour, for a whole hour as part of Eco schools.

Primary 1 kicked of the week with some buddy time, our buddies read us a story that we picked and then we had some time to play together. They then helped us with our Scottish π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ songs for the school assembly.
As part of our RE this week we learned all about St Valentine π We talked about what we know already, love hearts, chocolates and what we see in the shops. We then learned why it is a special day about love and made cards for someone we love.
We also created beautiful tie dye effect love hearts during our art session, we are all very pleased with how they have turned out. We were surprised when we were told we were going to spray our artwork with water and had some good predictions at what would happen, we trusted the process and are all very proud.
All of Primary 1 took part in singing our Scottish π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ songs to the whole school, we sang Wee Willie Winkie and You Canny Shove Your Granny Aff the Bus π.

Primary 1 have had lots of fun learning this week.
We have been learning about π§ ice. How we can make ice, what we use ice for, how ice is made outside π₯Ά and how to melt ice π§. To start with we made ice then put it in hot water, the ice melted before break time. The next time we put the ice π§ in very cold water and Β the ice lasted until after lunch time! We are going to do more experiments with ice next week.
During our own time some of us decided to be scientists π§βπ¬ mixing potions together Β π§ͺ 𧫠. We had lots of fun exploring how different colours mix and what happens when we add a dry mixture.
During topic work we were learning all about Scotlands national animal, the unicorn π¦. We learned what the worth mythical means and created our own unicorn coat of arms.
All of Primary 1 took home a Credit union letter, to start saving with the school and to kick start it the school will add Β£1 to our accounts. When you open an account you get a bank book and a piggy π· bank. Those who brought in their forms enjoyed going up to the school bank to deposit their money.
During outdoor learning we spent time in the outdoor classroom learning some outdoor games and building.
On Wednesday we all attended out pupil voice committee groups where we are helping to be leaders in the school.

Primary 1 have had lots of fun exploring den Β building skills. Working as a team we created some very unique dens. We had to think carefully about where to set our dens, what we would use and if the dens to survive a full day. This involved lots of collaboration and creative thinking skills, as well as lots of fun π
We have been enjoying our topic, Scotland, π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώand this week we have been learning about Robert Burns and in particular enjoyed the poem To a Mouse π . In PE we have also been learning some Scottish dancing, everyone has enjoyed this and showed good skills in learning the dances.
During outdoor learning we ventured to the local woodland area where our learning focus was on pH testing on natural objects, we talked about the pH scale and tried to predict where each item would sit on the scale.
After exploring the Bible story of Noah and the Ark this inspired our art activity for the week. We created painted rainbows π and added texture to them with cotton wool β οΈ. Β We thought about the story of Noah and how God wants us to listen to him even if others try to convince us not to.
A few of us have been suffering from colds and coughs this week but everyone has been such good troopers engaging in all learning activities. We hope everyone has a restful weekend to recharge for more learning next week.π
Another fun filled learning week in Primary 1.
We have found out lots of geographical facts about Scotland – gaining an understanding of where it is in the world and where we live in Scotland.
We are also learning some Scots songs and poems.
In outdoor learning this week we were looking for signs of nature around the school grounds. We collected lots of interesting things to bring back to class andΒ examine.
In RE we learned all about the Baptism of Jesus and talked about how some of us have been Baptised (but not in a river). We talked about what we would have worn to our own Baptism and if we had been a guest at any other one what we remembered.
In PE we are learning gymnastics π€Έ we are learning how to be safe while moving our bodies in different ways.

Primary 1 was straight back to super learning.
in Outdoor learning we had a fun scavenger hunt in the school garden.
We started our new Topic this week, Scotland. We thought about what we know about Scotland and what we would like to know, we are excited to learn new things.
In RE we learned all about the Epiphany and participated respectfully in our whole school mass.
We had lots of fun learning ordinal numbers, we played races and learned the language for 1st π₯ to 10th place.
As it was a whole New Year we celebrated this by making New Year resolutions and decorating a 2026 poster.
