For outdoor learning we had a lovely walk to the park, having lots of fun together working on our motor skills.

We were all delight to take our sunflowers đť home this week, we are looking forward to seeing how big they grow.
On Friday we decorated real eggs đĽ. We have learned where eggs come from  đ and that they are very delicate. Miss Stenhouse boiled them so they were a bit stronger.
Primary 1 have been learning about the oceans and different creatures that live in it. This week we used this to create beautiful ocean scene pictures. We used different techniques to create layers on our pictures. We are all proud of our work and had lots of fun making them.
During RE this week as well as having a focus on lent and being forgiving like Jesus, we also learned about St Partrick. We created trinity shamrocks âď¸ to represent The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. We had to use lots of fine motor skills to create these.
During outdoor learning this week we were out in the garden starting our vegetable teepee. We had to carefully fill the planters with soil and sick a big bamboo stick in each one. Miss Stenhouse then tied them together before we planted our seeds. We have planted cucumber and bean seeds as they like to grow tall.
During our outdoor learning in Primary 1 we planted trees đł In class we have been learning about living things and the importance of plants and trees in the world. đ This was a good opportunity for us to plant trees and watch them grow as we grow in school.

This week we decided to change our play area from a hairdressers to a puppet show. We have created posters and đŤ tickets for our show, thinking of how much we should charge for our tickets. We have had lots of fun using or imagination  to create shows for our friends.
We have found it lots of fun practicing French words and learning facts about France đŤđˇ we took time to create French flags and compared them to the Scottish flag.
As we approach Easter we have been thinking about what that means in the Church calendar and the meaning behind the Easter celebrations.
We have also been thinking about the change in seasons and how we know that spring is her, new flowers, baby chicks đ¤ and  lambs đ .
We have had fun playing with Spring materials.
Shapes have been a big hit in Primary 1 and we have been learning lots about 2D and 3D shapes.
Another busy learning week in Primary 1. We have been learning all about living things with a focus on plants đŞ´We discussed what plants  need to grow and the different parts of plants. It was agreed that we would like to grow our own plants so in class we have planted sunflower đť seeds and are looking to looking after them and watching them grow.
On Thursday we took part in world đ book đ day. We took part in a book scavenger hunt, listened to authors reading their books and made book marks. It was lots of fun.
On Friday some of our grown ups came into school to join us for our school Big Breakfast and then in our classroom to share our learning. We love sharing our learning. We hope the grown upâs enjoyed visiting our classroom.
It was sweet week and we made chocolate truffles. We had to get our hands messy this week to roll the ingredients into balls. It was hard not to eat some as we were cooking đ§âđł as it was very tasty đ
Lots of skills were used making our truffles, smashing, scooping, mixing, rolling and sharing.
We had a great start to cooking club, this week was savoury week and we made pizza rolls .
Everyone followed the instructions well to make a delicious treat. We had to spread, fold, sprinkle, and baste our rolls before putting them in the oven to cook.
We all worked very  well collaboratively.

Mya – I ate it all, it was tasty.
Theodor – I loved mine.
Primary 1 had a fantastic trip to Edinburgh Castle this week. Â This was a big adventure for us and a lot of walking but we all did very well and made the school proud.
We used our trip to inspire our writing.
On Wednesday we participated in our school committee groups where we get the chance to work collaboratively with children across the school. We all really enjoy working with others and making decisions to shape areas in the school.
On Friday we participated in No Electricity in school hour, for a whole hour as part of Eco schools.
Primary 1 kicked of the week with some buddy time, our buddies read us a story that we picked and then we had some time to play together. They then helped us with our Scottish đ´ó §ó ˘ó łó Łó ´ó ż songs for the school assembly.
As part of our RE this week we learned all about St Valentine đ We talked about what we know already, love hearts, chocolates and what we see in the shops. We then learned why it is a special day about love and made cards for someone we love.
We also created beautiful tie dye effect love hearts during our art session, we are all very pleased with how they have turned out. We were surprised when we were told we were going to spray our artwork with water and had some good predictions at what would happen, we trusted the process and are all very proud.
All of Primary 1 took part in singing our Scottish đ´ó §ó ˘ó łó Łó ´ó ż songs to the whole school, we sang Wee Willie Winkie and You Canny Shove Your Granny Aff the Bus đ.
