Primary 1

What a great week in Primary 1!

We have been learning to measure, we have used block, paperclips, hands and feet and finally a ruler. We discussed how it looked like a number line and how it can help us measure. We were all very good at using it!
We had lots of activities around ordering things in size, talkers to shortest, longest to shortest etc. Finally we all got in size order ourselves.

In our topic work we have been looking at Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and the focus this week was where we live, or where the school is, Polbeth. We had lots of fun walking round the village ticking off places of interest. We we excited about buying something in the shop and getting to taste a Subway. We finished off our walk with a trip to the park.

This week in Primary 1 we had a theme of love ❤️ and kindness. We learned all about St Valentine and how we can show love and kindness to others. We made tie die love hearts to display in class to remind us how to show love and kindness.

In outdoor learning this week, due to the very wet weather, we spent it in the outdoor classroom. We were tasked by building a structure, some of us built bridges and some built towers or castles and house.

We read a lovely story about mermaids and created a land for her to live in, we all enjoy playing in the sand.

Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 1

On Monday Primary 1 performed our Scottish song and poem that we have been practicing in front of the whole school as part of the school Scottish Poetry competition. We did very well and everyone should be proud of themselves.

We then enjoyed a lovely buddy time with our Primary 7 buddies where we read to our buddies and they also read to us.

At outdoor learning we planted pumpkin 🎃 seeds. We collected the seeds from inside the pumpkin 🎃 at Halloween, but they had to stay in a dark place for a long time before we could plant them. We are hoping they grow into big pumpkins.

On Friday we joined the whole school mass, we did very well. In RE this week we talk about being part of Gods family, our school family as well as our family at home.

We hope you all have a lovely holiday.

Primary 1

In Primary 1 we learned about the Lunar New Year 🧧.
we found it very interesting that each year is represented by a animal and that this year is the year of the snake 🐍. We talked about what animals represented the years we were born, 2018 the dog 🐕, 2019 the pig 🐖 and 2020 the rat 🐀.
We decorated lanterns and made paper snakes 🐍.

Primary 1

On Monday we had a great buddy session where we learned lots about Robert Burns and made information posters to show our learning.

Our Topic this term is Scotland and we are enjoying learning Scots language through stories and poems.

Our art this week was based on our Scottish topic, inspired by tartan  and Robert Burs we created our own tartan silhouette pictures.

On Thursday we celebrated Robert Burs day early. We learned that he is a very famous Scottish poet. We made shortbread in class as well as haggis neeps and tatties and had a burns supper, birthday party in class.

We were all excited and some a bit nervous about the weather, have a lovely weekend 😀

Primary 1

In class this week we have been using different language for big and small in our number work, greater and less, more and fewer. We have played lots of games with numbers to develop our understanding.

We spent some time this week deciding what it was that we wanted to learn about Scotland for our topic, we came up with some fantastic ideas and are now keen to learn more.

It was lovely weather for our outdoor learning this week and we enjoyed spending some time in the school garden, checking on what we had planted at the start of the year. After the garden we had some time in the trip trail, work on our balance and co ordination skills as well as working together. Everyone loves getting outside.

In RE we learned the story of Noah and his Arc, we all made our own rainbows 🌈 to represent God’s promise.

Have a lovely weekend ☺️

Hello 2025 in Primary 1

What a fast first week back to school in Primary 1.

We have enjoyed the excitement of the colder weather, in class we had snow in our tuff tray and made our own ice 🧊 with water in the freezer. It was lots of fun trying to save the winter animals that were trapped in the ice. This brought about lots of discussion around the process of freezing and melting and how we have had snow and not rain.

We took this interest into our writing this week, writing about ice and snowmen ⛄️.

During number work we have been looking at ordinal numbers and left and right. This gave us lots of opportunities to have races and play lots of games. We looked around the room to see where else we use ordinal numbers, we did very well pointing out that we use it on the calendar 📅 and that our birthdays 🎉 we use ordinal numbers.

We have started our new topic for this term, Scotland. We will be learning facts about Scotland and about famous Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 people and Scottish words and songs. We have started by looking at the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scottish Flag and made some for our classroom.

Have a lovely weekend 😉

Primary 1 Last week of 2024 in class

Primary 1 got our festive week off to a great start with our Christmas 🎄 party. We played games, had party food and even got a visit from Santa 🎅🏻

We baked some Christmas 🎄 cookies 🍪 in class, this was very messy but so much fun!
We had to follow the instructions carefully and use lots of skills.

On Thursday we enjoyed watching the Primary 4 to 7 Christmas 🎄 concert. We all really enjoyed the performance.

Throughout December our Elf  has brought us lots of fun and today he confirmed we are all on the Good List. Sparkles is away back to the North Pole.

From all of Primary 1 we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas 🎅🏻 .

Primary 1 Nativity

This week was a very busy week.

We had a lovely Christmas 🎄 dinner together on Wednesday. On Thursday we enjoyed Peter Pan the Panto but the highlight of the week was our Nativity show.

We were all super proud of each other for being on stage in front of an audience. Some of us were super nervous but we persevered and supported each other and all tried our best.

Photos of the nativity have been uploaded to seesaw, please have a look.
Thank you all for coming to watch us.

Have a lovely weekend.
