St. Mary’s Presents “Matilda the Musical”

Matilda🎭

Our P5–P7 pupils are entering the final stages of preparation for their upcoming show next week. Over the coming days, the children will be taking part in final rehearsals, dress rehearsals and technical rehearsals as they bring together all aspects of their performance.

Through the Expressive Arts curriculum, pupils have been developing a wide range of skills including confidence, creativity, communication, teamwork and performance techniques. The rehearsal process has allowed them to explore characterisation, movement, music and drama while working collaboratively towards a shared goal.

The excitement is certainly building as the children prepare to showcase all of their hard work and dedication. We are incredibly proud of their commitment and enthusiasm and cannot wait for them to perform for family and friends.

Tickets are available from the school office for £3 each. Performances will take place on Tuesday afternoon (16th June) and Wednesday evening (17th June). We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating the pupils’ achievements on stage! 🌟🎶🎬

Health Week Day 1 with Primary 5

First up on this Tuesday morning – we started at The Smoothie Bike. We had the opportunity to make a fruit kebab or a smoothie. We used our collaboration skills to choose fruit, safely prepare it for the blender and make our morning smoothie. 🍑🍌🍊🍓🍎

Next up we had our Circus School Class – we played games, learned new tricks and had fun 🤩 🤡🎪

After a quick snack break we headed outside to the Trim Trail for smores, after a quick safety brief we toasted our marshmallows around the fire. 🔥

In the afternoon we took part in a Strongman/woman led by Mrs. Mains

Let’s see what tomorrow brings!! 🔥

Rannoch Class Update

Another busy week in Rannoch class.

We had fun outdoors with Ms. Nelson we made Easter cards.

In class, during Art this week we made some more Easter crafts – EGGS that turned into Bunnies.

On Friday, we visited Ness class for assembly which we will do every week from now on.

PRIMARY 5 ARE OFF TO CAMP

Today was an exciting day for our Primary 5s as we headed off on our very first camp trip! The buzz on the bus said it all — everyone was full of excitement and ready for adventure.

When we arrived, our first challenge was making our beds. There were a few tricky duvet covers to tackle, but with teamwork and determination, everyone rose to the occasion! After working up an appetite, we enjoyed lunch together before heading off for our afternoon activities.

In the afternoon, we took part in crate climbing and low ropes. Both activities encouraged us to step outside our comfort zones and, most importantly, work together as a team. There was lots of cheering, encouragement and celebrating each other’s successes — fantastic teamwork all round!

After a well-earned dinner, we wrapped up the evening around the campfire. We sang songs, played games and toasted marshmallows while sharing plenty of laughs.

It was the perfect end to a brilliant first day, and everyone is looking forward to what tomorrow brings!

Busy Bees in P5 🐝

Primary 5 have had a busy and exciting start to the week!

On Monday and Tuesday, we began our STEM space project, focusing on improving our spatial reasoning skills. We took part in two fun, active and hands-on maths lessons where we explored axis, lines of symmetry and reflections.

In Religion, we learned about the Feast of St Brigid, which takes place on the 1st of February and links to Our Lady & St Brigid’s, our parish church. We then had a go at making St Brigid’s crosses, which proved trickier than we expected but very rewarding.

We also enjoyed movement breaks and outdoor learning with Ms Nelson.

In science, we investigated sinking and floating, using our reciprocal reading skill of predicting to think about what might happen to different objects before testing them out. We then recorded our answers on our worksheet.

Rannoch Class

This week has been full of wonderful learning experiences!

In literacy, the pupils explored stories through sensory activities and working on building their phonics skills using songs, visuals, and hands on resources. Everyone worked really hard on recognising sounds and practising blending at their own level.

In numeracy, we focused on practical, real – life maths. The children enjoyed counting activities, matching numbers, and exploring shapes through play based tasks. We used concrete materials and visual supports to help build confidence and independence.

We made great use of our outdoor learning session too with Ms. Nelson. The class loved exploring the school grounds, taking part in walks and engaging in activities that encouraged communication, teamwork, and problem solving. Being outside really supported regulation.

During P.E. we worked on gross motor skills, balance, and coordination through fun, structure games. The pupils enjoyed moving their bodies, practising taking turns and celebrating each others achievements.

We’re so proud of how well everyone engaged this week – lots of smiles, enthusiasm and great progress all round. 🙂
