For Virtual Sports Fortnight our afternoons will give you the opportunity to complete the PE tasks set by Mrs Lafferty and share your results to help your House win.
We will also complete another HWB task. Today we continue with our Beano work and bouncebackability. The focus is on stress – something we all experience and we need to build resilience and ways to deal with it. The PowerPoint explores stress and has a task for you to complete asking for you to come up with strategies. The extension asks you to think of your own experiences and when you felt stressed and create a comic strip about it.
We just wanted to let you all know that we are missing you very much and hope that you are continuing to stay safe. Our school family is very important to us all and we are very much looking forward to seeing you again when it is safe for us to be together. A big thanks to Mr McGurn and Mrs McLaughlin for their efforts with this!
Have a lovely day and don’t forget to take part in our Virtual Sports!
Have you watched a good film this weekend? The following tasks are about a film you have seen recently. If you haven’t watched a film then write about a book you have read. Remember you can print or write your tasks on paper or a jotter.
For today’s challenge you will be completing the speed bounce, you have had lots of practice doing speed bounce during the athletics block so should hopefully do well in today’s event. Your video demonstration along with written instructions which detail how to complete the challenge and where to send your video are posted below. Please make sure you read the written instructions too.
I have also decided to make our Virtual Sports Fortnight a little bit more interesting as I know how much our St John Ogilvie pupils love to challenge the staff in any kind of competition.
Instead of staff being a part of their usual house we are going to team up and make a teachers house for the Virtual Sports Fortnight event. The staff will be in the St John Ogilvie house and will go up against the pupils who will stay in their own original houses.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful today so if you would rather spend time outside in the garden than doing work that would be absolutely fine.
I hope you are all well and have had a safe and nice weekend!
The weather wasn’t very nice so I mostly stayed in the house, in front of my fireplace, which is nice and cosy!
Here is also a wee reminder that today is going to be the first day of the Sports Fortnight, as most of you will know from what Mrs Lafferty said last Friday. You can find the documents she sent about it at the end of this post and also on Teams, read them and start working out!🤸♂️💪
Because we don’t want you to be stressed out about all the tasks you have to complete plus the ones for the Sports challenge Fortnight, we have decided to give you only one task in the afternoonsduring the Sports challenge weeks.
It’s going to be running this week and the next and the more points you get the more points you will give your house!
Do look and give your parents/carers the rules to look at so that they can help you to participate and win lots of points!
Here you can find your usual tasks for the morning:
Task 1 – Spelling assessment with the spelling words from next week
Good morning P7, I hope you’ve had a fun weekend in spite of the weather.
Here is today’s Literacy Work:
Your main task today is to use your reading pages to work your way through these Bloom’s Reading Activities. We’ll complete a different aspect each week and it will help to build up your reading knowledge and understanding skills. this week it’s ‘Remembering’. Your work will help you when you come to review the book.
There are 8 different tasks on the ‘Remembering’ page to choose from – don’t try to complete all of them, choose a couple that you will complete to a high standard in about 50 minutes. Make sure you identify which chapters of White Fang you are completing the tasks on.
This is an online audio book if you need a bit more support with the reading. There does seem to be a difference between the audio book’s chapters and the pdf so you need to try and see where those overlap. You log in using the ‘My Class Login’ button using these details:
Username: sjo primary 7 Password: White Fang Capital W and F and space between words – sometimes easier to copy and paste
Today’s Numeracy Work:
For mental maths we continue with Big Maths Beat That. Try to improve on your score each day or if you are finishing ALL 72 correctly, try and beat your time each day. Post your scores/times to Your Personal Learning Blog.
For the next few weeks we are going to complete some revision of work that we have covered over the course of the year. It will be a chance to make sure we are secure with different concepts before the move to high school and help refresh our memories of things we haven’t had a look at in a while.
Today we are looking at Whole Numbers – this covers place value, ordering numbers, reading scales, rounding and the 4 number operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). There are 3 levels of choice but most of you should be working from Spicy so you will be ready for high school maths. Only try Mild if you find Spicy too hard and go for Hot if you usually go for more of a challenge.
