Primary 6 Afternoon Tasks 25-5-20

Good Afternoon Primary 6. I hope you have had a busy morning. We are only posting one activity to allow you to video yourself completing your speed jump activity!

In the month of May, the Catholic Church celebrates Mary in many different ways and if you look at the PowerPoint you will learn more about these.

Task1  – Write a special prayer to Mary thanking her for looking after us and keeping our family and friends safe, especially during this time. You can use the prayer template or simply write it in your home learning journals. The PowerPoint also provides you with some ideas on how to start your prayer.  It might be nice to decorate your completed work before you post it to your PLB.

PowerPoint

Prayer Template

Task 2  Many Catholics crown a statue of Mary with flowers to represent her queenship as the Mother of Jesus Christ. Your task is to make your own crown for Mary . Have a look at the examples in the word document attached. Perhaps you could use some flowers from the garden or tissue paper, if this is not possible. Alternatively use whatever craft materials are available, but be creative and imaginative !

Have  a great afternoon!

For Virtual Sports Fortnight our afternoons will give you the opportunity to complete the PE tasks set by Mrs Lafferty and share your results to help your House win.

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/stjohnogilvieprimary/2020/05/25/virtual-sports-fortnight-day-1/

We will also complete another HWB task.  Today we continue with our Beano work and bouncebackability.  The focus is on stress – something we all experience and we need to build resilience and ways to deal with it. The PowerPoint explores stress and has a task for you to complete asking for you to come up with strategies.  The extension asks you to think of your own experiences and when you felt stressed and create a comic strip about it.

P5B Monday 25th AM

Good Morning everyone. Hope you all had a lovely weekend despite the horrid weather.

Our School Sports Challenge starts today. I hope you all made a poster with your House on it.

Daily Challenge

Remember : Synonyms are words with similar meanings. In this task are some words that are used a lot and are referred to as ‘tired’ words.

Lit whizz – 4 tired words

Literacy

Have you watched a good film this weekend? The following tasks are about a film you have seen recently. If you haven’t watched a film then write about a book you have read. Remember you can print or write your tasks on paper or a jotter.

Everyone should complete this task:

Film pack – Poster design         or design a new front cover for your book

Choose ONE of the following tasks:

Film pack – character review     or use the format to write about a character from a book

Film pack – sound effects           or  describe or list sounds or descriptions of sounds from your book

Film pack – film review        or write a book review, remember don’t tell the ending but explain what you liked/ what kind of book/ setting etc

Have fun – If you can tell me the name of the book or film you are working with on TEAMS.

Numeracy – Revision and practice of simple division

I have included a multiplication square to help out with this.

VIRTUAL SPORTS FORTNIGHT DAY 1

Good morning everyone,

For today’s challenge you will be completing the speed bounce, you have had lots of practice doing speed bounce during the athletics block so should hopefully do well in today’s event.  Your video demonstration along with written instructions which detail how to complete the challenge and where to send your video are posted below.  Please make sure you read the written instructions too.

Day 1 Instructions – Speed Bounce

I have also decided to make our Virtual Sports Fortnight a little bit more interesting as I know how much our St John Ogilvie pupils love to challenge the staff in any kind of competition.

Instead of staff being a part of their usual house we are going to team up and make a teachers house for the Virtual Sports Fortnight event.  The staff will be in the St John Ogilvie house and will go up against the pupils who will stay in their own original houses.

Let the games begin!

Good luck, have fun and be safe.

Mrs Lafferty
