Blackburn Community Centre 50th birthday!

As you may or not be aware, Blackburn Community Centre is celebrating it’s 50th birthday on Friday 25th November.
There are a number of events planned on both Friday and Saturday which will hopefully engage the whole community, past and present.   If you know of anyone  who has been involved in Blackburn Community Centre in the last 50 years, please let them know and ask them to get in touch (see poster).

Fireworks Safety Talk

A really interesting discussion with PC Chris and PC Carol Ann today.

fireworks2A massive thank you to them for coming in and having a safety chat with us.

Key messages were:

Stay safe with fireworks.

Under 18 year olds are not permitted to have fireworks.

Keep your distance (at least 25 m) from fireworks and bonfires.

Do not return to or go near fireworks which have been lit.

Fireworks are loud and can frighten people.  Make sure pets and young children are kept inside during home displays and be mindful of neighbours.

Make sure your blue bins are out of harm’s way.

Health week next week!

health-week-letter-2016

We are looking forward to Health week next week.

Everyone should have received a letter all about it but for those who haven’t or as a reminder click the link above to see it.

Pupils can come to school dressed in sports wear next week if they wish.  Shorts and t-shirts will be needed every day.   Some activities will take place outside, weather permitting.

P7 Open Evening: Tuesday 15th November 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian

We will be holding a P7 Open Evening on Tuesday 15th November 2016 and would be delighted if you are able to attend. It will afford you the opportunity to visit subject areas and meet heads of faculties, teaching and Student Support staff as well as members of the Senior Leadership Team.

The evening will take the form of a number of short workshops across a range of subject departments and will begin promptly in the school assembly hall at 7pm and end at 8.15pm.

If you are able to come, please complete the tear off slip below and ask your son or daughter to return this to their Primary 7 teacher.

Your son/daughter should attend the evening with you and accompany you to workshops.

I very much look forward to seeing you

Yours sincerely
