P7 Snow Day Activities

OK, P7, here are your snow day activities in case you are missing school too much!

Go outside and build a snowman! Obviously, when you are doing this you have to sing songs from “Frozen” (expressive arts – music) and you will incorporate some Elsa style dance moves in there mid build (creative dance). Even take a few pictures or a video while you are doing this and post it on the P7 Yammer page or make a Sway presentation of the whole thing (digital literacy).

Build an igloo! Can you make 3D cuboids (maths) and join them together to make a structure (technology)? What is the best shape for an igloo?

Do something nice for someone! Is there someone elderly in your street who may need their paths cleared? Why don’t you offer to do it for them? Or, help out your mum/dad/carer in the house. #choosekind

Go on Sumdog and let’s see who can get the highest percentage of questions correct.

www.literacyshed.co.uk/bubbles – let’s get this story finished before tomorrow.

Practice your chess skills.

Have a fun day P7!

Oak Room Snow Update

Good Morning boys and girls,

I hope you are enjoying your snow day. Look what Emily and l finally got round to making, l hope they taste as good as the ones we made together!

We walked to the shop early this morning for some snow day goodies (yummy!). The snow was very deep so l pulled Emily all the way there and back on her sledge, l was exhausted!

I would love to hear what you are up to, you could even post a wee photo.

If you are looking for some work to do here are some ideas

  • Build a snowman and measure how tall he is
  • Draw and write about your favourite snow day activity
  • If it’s too cold outside read a book or even watch a film then draw and write about your favourite part
  • Write your fry words in the snow
  • Write number sequences in the snow in 1s, 5s & 10s
  • Make snowmen shaped biscuits, you can help measure out all the ingredients

But most importantly have fun!

See you all soon

Mrs Kerr

P4 snow day learning activities

Good morning to all P4 learners!

As the school is closed for severe weather I have attached links to some things that will help you today. Some of the activities will require your passwords which should be in your diary.

Reading:

I have put some new reading materials on https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/ . If you log into your account there should be something individual for you.

Maths and Numeracy:

If you would like to continue learning about fractions, I have allocated some specific fractions maths games on https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/

For some more general maths revision to keep your mind sharp, use https://www.sumdog.com or http://gregtangmath.com

Spelling and Reading:

I would highly advise that you spend at least 15 minutes on https://www.idlcloud.co.uk in keeping with what we would usually do. This is an individualise program to each pupil.

Using GLOW:

Don’t forget that there are a wealth of tools that the pupils can access via https://glow.rmunify.com/

Creative projects could include:

Using Sway, PowerPoint online or Microsoft Word online to write/create a journal of what you did on your snow day.

Using the above tools to make a personal project about something that interests you.

Researching and making a presentation about Fairtrade.

Stay safe

It is great to spend some time exploring the snow outdoors but please only do so if it is safe and you are supervised by an adult.

I hope that you have an enjoyable day learning at home and can access the learning activities.

Have fun,

Mr Sinclair

School Closures

Due to the adverse weather conditions all schools in West Lothian will be closed today (Wednesday). You can find updates on the West Lothian Council Facebook, website and Twitter.

Information about rescheduling Parent Consultantation Evenings at Dedridge PS will follow once schools reopen.

We would love to see some pictures of what you get up to in the snow and hear about the activities you do while you are off (pictures you draw, poems/stories about winter, recipes you bake, etc.).
