Elf has arrived at BEYC
When Elf arrived he had a special letter from Santa with him, he has given the boys and girls at Bathgate Early Years centre the task of naming his ‘elf’. Please comment below or tweet us with your child’s suggestion for a name for our nursery elf…
We will select a name at random at the end of the week, please remember to include your child’s name too!

West Lothian Council Singalong Filming
As with previous years we will be taking part in the WLC Christmas Singing filming, this year it is on Thursday 7th December at 1pm. You may have seen some schools/groups singing on the Council Facebook page and we will be filmed on Thursday and the information/ performance will be shared on our blog. If your child attends in the morning and you would like them to attend the recording please come back to nursery for 12.45pm on Thursday. Parents will need to remain in the nursery building during the filming. If possible please could children wear something Christmassy.
Lost Jacket Alert
Please help find a purple nursery jacket that has been missing for a few weeks.
The label inside the pocket will say Craig. If you have this jacket by mistake please return it to Mrs Todd.

Celebrating St Andrew’s Day
Take a look at the fun we all had celebrating St Andrew’s Day in nursery (A day early due to our Christmas Fair tomorrow)
Introducing Box Clever – Vocabulary Building.
We are helping children to acquire new vocabulary through an innovation called ‘Box Clever’.
It has been developed by speech and language therapists and aims to help children store new vocabulary systematically. It aims to increase the way children access newly learned vocabulary in general communication, through play scenarios. Box Clever focuses on nouns, then adjectives, then verbs and then moves onto using the new vocabulary in play and general every day interactions.
Our first Box Clever topic is ‘Nativity’. Children are handling the Nativity characters and relevant objects through play and at group times. Vocabulary is reinforced throughout the nursery.
20-25/11/7Â Week 1. Naming words.
27/11-1/12/17Â Week 2. Describing words.
4—8/12/17 Week 3. Doing words/actions.
11-15/12/17. Â Week 4. Sequencing, retelling stories.
Please look on the ‘Try at Home’ table for a leaflet of the words we are focusing on each week.
