Very proud moment for BEYC!
Lots of excitement on Twitter this morning @wlbeyc
We have only gone and made it to the finals of the Education Scotland Awards 2018 in the Digital Learning and Teaching Awards category!
In an earlier post we mentioned children’s learning is recorded and extended through Learning Stories.
Learning Stories are a consultative model of planning, led by the children.
Learning Stories at BEYC are very much influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach; making learning visible and highly valuing the child’s voice and contributions from home.
Our Learning Stories are collated onto Sway (Microsoft Office Sway is an online interactive presentation programme) which is great for revisiting Learning Stories, both in nursery and at home.
Please have a look at the key points about BEYC’s Learning Stories below.
This short video is also very helpful for understanding this approach to documenting learning and planning.
Please help yourself to the materials at the Try at Home table in the foyer to make an eco friendly Easter bonnet.
As an Eco School we very much promote the use of recycled materials and have provided some as a starting point.
You can use recycled resources from your home too if you wish!
Who is going to be super creative and take on this challenge?
We can’t wait to see your finished eco friendly Easter bonnets!
Please wear them to nursery on Thursday 22nd March, when we will be having our Easter Egg hunt!
Please come and join the fun of the procession costumes arts and crafts at Mrs McKay’s Gala Day Workshop! Tea, coffee, biscuits and Mrs McKay’s expertise all provided free of charge! 😊
Can you help us extend our learning all about Space?
Please add your ideas to our whiteboard idea thought bubbles in the foyer or in the comments below.
Our Out of this World Sway shows the direction children have taken their learning in so far, through the Learning Story model of Consultative Planning.

The lists for the procession costumes are now available in the foyer.
Please come in and have a look at the photographs of the costumes and write your name and your child/children’s names on the relevant lists. This will allow Mrs Mckay to ensure we have enough material and resources for when you can come in and make your costume. Mrs Mckay will be on hand to help and guide you.
The cost for the costumes are £3 adults and £2 for children.
Lists will close Friday 27th April.
HIP HIP HOORAY!
With the help of online videos created by astronaut Chris Hadfield (Commander of Expedition 35 aboard ISS in 2012/2013) we have been extending our knowledge about daily life aboard International Space Station. Today we discovered how to eat a sandwich and brush your teeth in space! Please have a look at our Sway below to find out what direction the children are taking their learning in now……….
