At the beginning of February all children were invited to take part in our second ‘Children’s Chatter’ where they were encouraged to share their thoughts about nursery.
They were asked: Why do we come to Nursery?
We were delighted to hear that the major themes coming through were learning and playing.
Here are some of their comments:
“I come because l need to learn stuff.”
“I come because l am little and when l am big l will go to school.”
“I come because we have to learn.”
“I come because you learn to be a grown up.”
“So mums and dads can have some peace.”
“To see my friends.”
“To learn numbers.”
“I come to have snack.”
“Because we are little we go to nursery.”
The Children’s Chatter provides an opportunity for all children to express their thoughts about nursery life. Our next steps include:
• Display the children’s responses for parents and carers to see.
• Use the responses to contribute to our Curriculum Rationale.
• Use the same question with parents/carer at our Stay, Play and Learn, Parent’s Evening and Grandparent’s Day to feed into our Curriculum
Rationale.
