P1 enjoyed a visit from their P7 buddies this afternoon, who came down to read a story to them. The P7 children engaged beautifully with P1, reading enthusiastically with fantastic expression and fluency. The P7 children chose great quality picture books which had their buddies smiling, talking about the pictures and laughing at the funny plots. Thank you again P7!
Art Display
Good Afternoon,
During Parental Consultations on Thursday, 10th of October 2019, artwork completed by all our children, across Primaries 1-7 will be on display. This is an opportunity to showcase their learning, following our recent partnership work with the National Galleries. We are sure you will be delighted with what they have produced.
On the night, you will have the opportunity to purchase your child’s work for a fee of £7. All work has been professionally framed and would be a wonderful keepsake.

This Week in P7/6
This week in P7/6 we:
- Learned about rationing during World War Two and how our modern day diet differs to that of the early 1940’s.
- Wrote the final draft of our evacuee letters.
- Discussed clothing in French and designed our own piece.
- Looked at various strategies for addition in Numeracy.
- Played the Shannon Switching Game in Maths, looking to find a winning strategy and to identify if one of the players had an advantage over the other.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs Lauder.
Some recent Maths learning in P1…
P1 Science
P1 continued their learning in their Science topic today: Our Incredible Body. This week, they were learning about the heart, its position in our body, its important job and what happens to it when we exercise.
To start our lesson, we explored what we already knew about our hearts:
Kalvin – “It bleeds!”
Aimee-Leigh – “It beats!”
Flynn – “It is near the lungs!”
The children had fun throughout the lesson listening to their own hearts beat through a stethoscope and comparing how our heart felt before and after a short burst of exercise. We even played with some pretend blood and droppers to simulate how the heart works as a pump . Great work P1!

Great Learning in P1
Today in P1, the children had fun learning another new sound: ‘t’.
They learned what this sound looks like, sounds like, how to write it and where in the mouth this sound is made. They explored the formation of this sound through play-dough and tracing boards, followed by sorting pictures on the Smartboard. Successful Learners all round!
