This week we’ve been learning how to measure weight.
We had fun learning how to use the balance scales.
We then compared different fruits and vegetables to see which was heavier.
Finally we counted how many vegetables were equal to 1kg.

This week in Primary 2/1 – 17th September 2021
We have had another very busy week in Primary 2/1.
We have been:
- Learning the i sound and the sh phoneme
- Using our magnetic boards to form our letters and building words with our phonemes.
- Retelling the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
- Counting objects up to 10 and working on addition strategies.
- Learning about how we are all unique and our fingerprints.
- Learning all about our heart and the important jobs it does.

We have been:
- Learning the “i” sound
- Common words “is, I, it”
- Learning more than, fewer than and equal to within 10 and identifying the signs for these
- The emotion happy and writing about what makes us happy!
- Classroom language in French
- All about our skin in science

This week in Primary 2/1
We have had a very busy week in Primary 2/1.
We have been:
- Learning about the ‘s’ sound and the phoneme ‘ch’.
- Learning to count objects up to 10 and to add numbers up to 20.
- Drawing self portraits for our ‘All About Me’ wall.
- Learning about Our Skeleton.
- Having lots of fun during Free Play.

P3/2’s Rocket Experiment
P3/2 have been carrying out experiments involving rockets. Last week we made our own rockets and this week we made some modifications to see if we could get them to fly further.
First, we practised our measuring skills in the classroom.
Next we went outside to launch our rockets. Our modifications included adding some weight to the end and also adding wings.
The rockets went so far we had to use a trundle wheel to measure the distance!
Once we’d completed our experiment we recorded our results.

Primary 2/1 – Settling In!
Primary 2/1 have settled in well at school. We have been working very hard and having lots of fun.
We have been :
- Counting on and back within 30.
- Singing the alphabet song and learning some new sounds and phonemes.
- Using the story of Elmer to create our class charter.
- Enjoying free play and spending time with our friends.
We can’t wait for the rest of our learning this week.
Primary 1- First Week at School!
P1 have had a super and very busy first week at school!
We have been:
- Settling into our new classroom routines
- Making new friends
- Learning all about zero
- Recognising and writing our names
It has been a fun filled, busy week with lots of fantastic learning! Well done P1!
