This week in St Joseph’s we are celebrating STEAM week. Today we were joined by Tomasz, Ross and Gordon from West Lothian College. We learned about pneumatics and had the opportunity to create our own circuits using air powered compressors to use a piston. Our P3/4 and P4 classes learned about air powered cars and created their own moving models.
Please note there has been a slight change to our EcosySTEMs event, which is due to take place on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd May. P2/3 will now attend the park on Wednesday 22nd and P6/7 will go on Thursday 23rd. Please ensure your child has returned their permission slip to the school and is wearing weather appropriate clothing, including footwear.

P6 had lots of fun taking part in our Active Schools Cross Country event at Whitburn Academy. We challenged ourselves to complete the course in our best possible time and enjoyed meeting children from other schools in our local area.
We are working towards our first Scottish Book Trust Reading Schools Award. As part of this, we would like as many parents & carers as possible to complete a quick survey on their attitudes to reading. Click on the link below to fill it in.

Next week we are looking forward to our Eco-sySTEMS event. These are some of the exciting activities we have planned for the 22nd/23rd May. If you haven’t already done so please return your child’s EE2 form. In addition, please look ahead at the weather forecast to ensure your child is suitably dressed and has enough water for a full day of outdoor learning.
We are delighted to share that we have been awarded our Bronze Level accreditation for the Attachment and Trauma Sensitive Schools Award (ATSSA) and now recognised as an “Attachment and Trauma Aware” school. This is an external sign of recognition of our commitment to develop a culture of compassion and nurture in St Joseph’s.

A big thank you to everyone who was able to make it along to our ‘Share the Learning’ parent-pupil event yesterday. The children really enjoyed welcoming you to their classrooms, sharing their work with you and taking part in some fun activities together. Our next parent-pupil event will take place on Monday 17th June 2024.
Grown ups are invited to join their children in their classes tomorrow to see what they have been learning. Pop along to school 2 – 3pm. The Foodbank will be in the DEN with a pop up shop for Camp clothes for our P7s going to camp. Adult Learning services will also be attending to chat with anyone who wants to know more about how their service can help you.
