A little reminder, the Nursery will be open as normal on the 21st of October 2019.  Please note, this is an In-Service day for all other children in Primaries, 1-7.

Good evening.

We are delighted to announce that the Parent Council will be holding a Race Night on Friday 1st November 2019.  The money raised at these events goes towards providing  invaluable resources and experiences for our children across the school and nursery.

To help support this wonderful event, the Parent Council are looking for donations from our school community, namely;  bottles, sweets, gift sets, vouchers etc.  If you are able to support this fund raising event, donations can be delivered to the school  office.  Please don’t give children bottles or valuable items to bring to the school.

The annual West Lothian Schools Area Swimming Heats 2019 will take place on, Sunday 10^th November 2019 at Deans Community High School, Livingston.

If your child is a Club swimmer and would like to enter the West Lothian Swimming Trials then please inform the school by Friday, 27^th September, providing the following information;

Child’s Name

Class and stage

Date of Birth

Consideration Times.

Events Entered

Please refer to the attached copies of the events programme and qualifying times guide before considering.

Information from Active Schools

The Meet will run over two sessions; session 1 – warm up 9.15 start 10.00 and session 2 – warm up 13.00 starts 13.45.

As these act as the qualifying heats for the 2019 Scottish Schools Swimming Championships to be held in January 2019(TBC), the entry age for swimmers will be calculated as at the 31^st December 2020. This means that, a swimmer born in 2005 is classed as 15 years old not 14 years and will therefore swim in the 15/16 years age category at the heats.

Once again, the Scottish School’s sponsor, Brodies Solicitors, will provide medals for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd places.

In order to comply with time constraints and Health & Safety requirements, it will be necessary to limit the number of competitors in each event. To enable this to be done fairly, there are consideration times for this event and therefore entry times must be submitted with entries.

Entries:

12 and under swimmers may enter a maximum of two events.

13 and over swimmers may enter a maximum of four events, two of which MUST be 200m or over.  Swimmers can only enter a maximum of two 100m events.

The first three swimmers from each event will be put forward to the Scottish Schools finals as long as they have achieved the qualifying time.  Unfortunately, this does not always guarantee them a swim at the finals as three swimmers from all areas in Scotland are put forward and only the fastest 12 are selected (fastest 6 in open events and 17/19 age group).  Information on finalists will be relayed to the schools as soon as possible.  Swimmers will be asked to select entry for final. Entry forms should be completed before leaving the meet.

Please note:  There will be a Boys and Girls 12 & under relay events this year

There will be no cost of entry this year.

As we continue to promote and encourage independence, we would like to remind parents/ carers, that as of Monday 23rd September parents/carers are kindly asked not to enter the playgrounds in the morning.  Staff are present in the playgrounds to supervise the children.

Good morning.

As the weather is getting a little colder, there has been a noticeable increase in the volume of traffic around the school area at the beginning and end of the school day.  We would like to remind all parents/carers to be mindful of where they park their cars,  to ensure the safety of our children and maintain access to neighbour’s driveways at all times.

A reminder that the car parks on the school grounds are for staff only.

We are delighted to inform you that our school is participating in this year’s Nations Biggest Sports Day.  Shannon, our visiting Dance teacher has kindly offered to deliver a Dance -A-Thon session on Wednesday 11th of September 2019   from 1.15pm-2.15 pm.  This will consist of 2 sessions:

Children in Primaries 1-3 from 1.15pm-1.45pm

Children in Primaries 4-7 from 1.45pm-2.15pm

All parents /carers are welcome to join in with the staff and children.  If you have children at different stages in the school, please feel free to stay for both sessions.

We would like to request that parents/carers arrive at school for the session they will be participating in.

Children will return to their classes afterwards and be dismissed as normal.

Good afternoon,

As we continue to promote healthy life choices in school, can we ask that you avoid fizzy drinks for snacks and lunch? Children are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to school each day that they can drink in class. There is the facility to refill these if needed.
